Carshalton was the form side going into play offs but blew it tonight.
Top win for Macca though.

A few of us went to Coldsore Ave tonight. I was impressed with the quality overall although Carshalton’s no 4 gifted Merstham their first goal after 2 mins with a terrible back pass.
Carshalton were probably the better side but didn’t take their chances

Not sure about that. Very even first half but 2nd half Merstham came out with more determination and were the better team !

Carshalton missed some sitters. Merstham's no 9 looks a good player but their defence isn't great.

Not sure if Merstham can win at Tonbridge but it will be nice to revisit. Yes Figuero (Merstham No 9 ) could easily play at the next level up and i would expect him to be snapped up if Merstham don't get promoted.

Tonbridge last night rode their luck in the second half against Haringey.
Tonbridgewere better side in first half, but a 2 goal lead at half time flattered them. In the 2nd half, Haringey upped their game and missed a hat ful of chances. They had enough chances to win . In particular, the Tonbridge defence struggled when the ball was played on the ground and they were run at

I believe Figueira (let's give him the correct spelling!) is on loan from Dulwich. I watched the Youtube highlights of Merstham’s 4-2 play-off win at Worthing the other day. He scored a couple of absolute belters (goals 2 and 3 in that blistering start) that wouldn't have looked out of place in the Premier League and last night's early goal at Carshalton was his 20th this season. I suspect there might be one or two scouts over at the Longmead Stadium on Monday!

I shall check that on monday.

Merstham have been my team of the season, playing beautiful passing football. However, last night the Bobbins created many more chances and should have won. Not that their failure to do so broke my heart! Excellent game, but not as good as the absolute cracker between Not Police and Salisbury the previous evening. I don’t rate Merstham’s chances against Tonbridge but who knows. And I’m staggered to think that Not Police could be a couple of games from the National League!

I don't think he's on contract though.

A couple of notes from lower down the pyramid this weekend. Both Cheshunt and Horsham were victorious in their respective Play-Off Finals to earn promotion to the Bostik Premier Division. Cheshunt won 3-0 at Bracknell Town in the South-Central Final and next season will compete at their highest level since the early 00's having spent many recent seasons in the lower reaches of the Isthmian pyramid.
Horsham edged out Ashford Town in the South-East Final bringing an end to their own exile from the Premier Division. Reading between the lines it seems Horsham are moving into a new ground for next season too.
