So now we know Matt Gray will be at the helm for next season I wonder how many changes to the squad will be made over this coming close season - my guess is quite a few!
What positions do you think we should look to strengthen??
Maybe transfer announcements and player news can be added to this thread over the coming weeks and months.

It doesn't take a genius to suggest we have to bring in at least one quality defender and striker over the summer. Rest depends on who stays and who is available.
It's wishful thinking to suggest Tommy will be back fit and firing, probably looking closer to autumn after that injury so I think we need two forwards - one hard working target man and one goalscorer (easier said than done - over to you MG). I wouldnt be surprised to see all our other strikers shipped out, but I hope we keep Jonah, even if he goes out on loan. Toure had his moments and, with the right strike partner could be a good player for us but his style makes finding that partner very hard so I don't expect him to stay. Williams will be shown the door, simply not good enough for this level.
Personally I really hope Josh Taylor gets a chance. I think it was a poor decision to farm him out on loan, he showed more than enough in his short run in the side, eg against slough and gateshead. Im not surprised he didn't do that well on loan as his confidence must have been shot to pieces by that move.
Man management was at times questionable this season, same with dropping Worner as soon as Butler was fit again, his confidence clearly suffered as he had not put a foot wrong. Obviously we now know dos had a lot on his plate outside football this year so can't be too critical, it can be very hard to judge others emotional state when your own is in a difficult place.

We don’t need a lot, an abnormal amount of injuries ruined our playoff push not lack of talent. Some more depth especially at the back and a goal scorer and we’re pretty set. A couple of players that have grown tired of being mistreated at Ebbsfleet perhaps?

Well Mc Queen was out on loan as well.

It all depends on who decides to leave. We'll know then.
However I don't think we'll keep both Tommy Wright and Dylan Kearney.

So Dean, Nicky, Brett & Aswad are out of contract and released.
Of that I am only really surprised at Aswad (but might have been his choice).
Nicky I am gutted about but has struggled with injury.
JC is, as a few predicted, moving to player coach.

Just to single out one thing, I'm very sorry to see Aswad go. I think he's been a class player for us and I hope he'll move onto something good.

I've always appreciated Aswad's performances for us. Here's hoping a league club snaps him up because he definitely deserves league football.

I've always appreciated Aswad's performances for us. Here's hoping a league club snaps him up because he definitely deserves league football. Before Aswad, left back was a problem position for U's. But the wording MG used in his interview suggested he was making the decision not to renew the contracts of all 4, so I guess that the absences Aswad had from the team which weren't due to injury were the deciding factor. When he was playing I thought he was starting 11 quality.
Age and recovery times are probably the factors against Nicky and Dean, though Dean had slipped to 1st reserve centre half. Both great servants to Sutton and will deserve a good luck blog of their own when it is announced. Where will they go? Havant a clue. Brett tried, but he wasn't good enough for a top half of the Conference side.
Unlucky with injuries this season - or are some of them injury-prone, slow recovering players? The answer to that question is something Matt needs to discover.

Didn't catch any of the last 5 games so can't comment on him, but it's hard to imagine Tommy will be fit in time for the start of the season so Kearney will surely have a part to play if MG thinks he's up to it.

Both TW and DK would run rings round any defence when working together and were fully fit. They’d be just like the Bantams Battalion in WW1 and scare the living daylights out of the enemy.

Unlucky. I'd say we were a non torn Tommy Wright ACL and non broken Brad Pearce foot from 7th. A club the size of ours can't replace young talents like that mid-season like Orient and Salford can. Dean and Nicky are champions, heroes of the clubs best cup run, vital members of the highest league finish this team has ever seen and served this club so well. I hope the club put out a statement befitting of their service on the main site. I'm sure they'll be spoken about in hall of fame discussions in the years down the line. We've been quite spoilt for players such as this with JC, Dundo and Simon Downer. Aswad too has served us very well over the last two seasons and was with Dale Bennett one of our best players before Christmas, i'm sad to see him go. I wish them all very well.

Interesting interview, maybe too eager to be open and honest even, but seems a genuine guy and I can see why he got the job. Don't need someone coming in and making major changes for changes sake.
At least two from Dean Nicky and Brett will surely follow dos down the m3, surprised about Nicky solely cos I figured he'd stay on as a coach. Dean did great this season when called on but ultimately his injury issues are too great for the rigours of national level. Thomas, decent player but always prone to lack of concentration and not a talker either, MG obviously feels he can bring in a better LB.
I picked up on MG mentioning a lack of creativity in the last few months, so hopefully Taylor gets a chance. Wonder who will be transfer listed....

I hope Taylor gets a chance too. I tipped him to be our key player in August 2018 (see predictions thread) so here's hoping that proves to be the case next season...
