I'm disappointed that Bailey and Aswad have gone. I would like in Bailey's case, a reason why he has gone given that he started here and then came back and was seemingly happy to finish his career here. Probably won't get a reason though.
I would like to thank Nicky, Aswad, Dean and Brett for their efforts and good luck for the future.

I don't know the reason but I would assume Bailey is one of our top earners (if not THE top earner), has spent much of this season unavailable due to injury and (according to Wikipedia) will be 35 in June.
Yes he is still a fantastic player for this level and is very versatile but I would imagine MG sees the opportunity to free up a chunk of his budget to spend elsewhere, maybe on a new striker perhaps?
I would have liked to have seen Nicky stay but then I don't know the budget MG has to play with and what plans he has in place so I will respect that he knows what he is doing until proven otherwise.

I would have liked Aswad and Nicky to stay too. When he's fit Nicky is still a top player at this level but injuries seem to be putting him out of action for half a season and he probably was on a good wage.

www.transfermarkt.com/sutton-united/kader/verein/3052/saison_id/2018/plus/1 - I'm sure this isn't hugely accurate given some of the names on that list, but more info on our contracted players than we have at the moment. According to this, our players on a contract for next season are: Bennett, Beautyman, Ayunga, Wright, Lema, Kearney and Dobson I know there are players missing on here (Pearce) and long gone players (Downer, Lafayette) so that links comes with the heaviest of caveats.

Bailey does seem quite injury prone these days. Maybe because of that he wants to play a less physically demanding game at a lower level. It makes sense given his age too.

Sadly for Nicky, the ravages of a long football career (in our first team at 17) have taken its toll in recent seasons. He didn't play often in the last season at Millwall and has missed a fair bit of football at KCS over the last two. He's been brilliant for Sutton in both his spells and have to wish him well and hope he can continue playing for a while longer yet.

Should add all the best to Aswad, Dean and Brett. In Dean's case, I have said before, thought his form from around November 2015, alongside skip, was one of the catalysts to U's unbeaten run to the NLS title that season. Top bloke too and we will lose two fans in his dad and his mate (Rich?) who used to travel from Haywards Heath to away games. Top guys too.

I share the surprise about Aswad as I thought he did well for us at full and centre back. Nicky has been fantastic for us but remember that even when “fit” Dos said he couldn’t really play two games in a week. Dean Beckwith was great for us but, as with Nicky, time catches up with us all. I thought Brett was only temporary anyway (in fact I thought he was on loan?), but ironically I thought his best performances were in the last two games against Maidstone and Dover.
As to the others mention on this thread, I hope we keep Kearney, he’s one of those “horrible” players who will always be antagonising the opposition, constantly worrying and winding them up. Great, as long as it’s for your team!
As for Josh, I hope he develops the way his fans seem to think. I don’t deny his talent, but I worry about his decision making and general tactical nous out on the pitch.

I don’t deny his talent, but I worry about his decision making and general tactical nous out on the pitch. Josh was unplayable for 30odd minutes at slough, was head and shoulders best player at gateshead. He was clearly still coming back to match fitness, got marked out of a few games (I seem to recall was constantly fouled in one of them, perhaps solihul?) then inexplicably dropped and farmed out on loan. Obviously there may have been other reasons for that, but essentially it appears that was to make room for Dobson, who in my opinion is a park player with a premier league left boot. I'd rather have Taylor in the side all day long, despite dobsons exquisite left peg.

Add my thanks for the efforts of Brett, Dean, Nick and Aswad. I can understand their exits. Dean has been a really good player for us. Nick exceptional at times. Aswad generally good too and hasn’t let us down. Assume we’ll be needing a left back on the presumption Mason won’t be able to step up permanently in the first team for a full season. Brett to me obviously lacked the qualities for the level but always put in a shift and I’m sure he’ll find a reasonable club a league below. Also intrigued on the transfer list though a couple may end up being mutually agreed terminations rather than transfers in the traditional sense.

I got the impression at the Q&A that Josh had some personal issues and was loaned out so he could get away for a while. Not a fan of discussing other people's situations as you really just don't know what is going on, but Dos certainly spoke of him with a sympathetic tone and I have worried from that point that perhaps he may not even want to come back to Sutton.
Either way, I hope he will come back refreshed and performing to the abilities we know he possesses. The lad is class on the ball.

Re. Josh he has caught the eye with the odd dribble etc but I guess the telling thing will be contribution in the final third. If you’re going to be an attack minded midfielder then there has to be an end product. Not sure he’s shown enough there yet. Still young though, definitely talented, and may yet become an excellent player.
