I’ll most probably be hounded out of the forum but I reckon we’ll be in a relegation battle next season. Sorry.

You and I have clearly been taught a different version of the alphabet I thought that we were discussing where teams would finish at the end of the season, as per the heading of the thread.

I’ll most probably be hounded out of the forum but I reckon we’ll be in a relegation battle next season. Sorry. Could be. One of the things that I enjoy most about football at this level is that (old cliché) any team cam beat any other team. It always takes a while for the top and bottom parts of the table to shape up and, even then, there's plenty of chance that teams will rise or plummet as the season goes on. Nervy stuff, but it holds the interest.

I’ll most probably be hounded out of the forum but I reckon we’ll be in a relegation battle next season. Sorry. Erm ,why ? Even before Dos left I felt that the squad were struggling (and I know that this wasn’t helped by injuries). Even when we went on that good run, some of the results were misleading (away to Barnet springs to mind). Of course we do not know what kind of squad will be assembled come August, so this is just speculation. You ask why - I could respond with “why not?” - we ended the season with little momentum, staff upheaval and a squad in flux. Not a great base to build upon. Hope I’m wrong.

If our new manager can solve our striker drought conundrum then we'll be playoff contenders next season. Until the new signings start arriving I'm nowhere near being able to predict our league table position...

I was thought that the question 'why' that Delboy asked was to why you would be hounded out of the forum! Really hope you're wrong though. These past few seasons must rank as some of the best Sutton have ever had.

No the question was why backhome 2016 thought we would struggle as i was interested to hear his/her reasoning. I'm sure he/she won't be hounded out of the forum. Yes we struggled with injuries towards the end of the season and the players we brought in were less than adequate. Matt Gray has addressed this by releasing a few and i look forward to seeing who he brings in. The future is bright if we can bring on the academy players i've seen so far.

Ultimately it comes down to money with those who have it being able to buy the best players, especially strikers. You only have to look at this list to see what you get if you pay for it.
1 Paul McCallum Eastleigh 26 2 Danny Rowe AFC Fylde 25 3 Macauley Bonne Leyton Orient 24 4 Adam Rooney Salford City 21
No team can defy gravity for any length of time unless they have a magic man, we had one, now we have a *wildcard. That is not being disingenuous to Matt, he maybe another magician in the making who knows? We could come anywhere in the table next season, but I doubt we will win it simply because we cannot afford the necessary fire power, and there is where Matt will need his magic wand.
Good teams with top strikers get promoted. Average sides with good strikers survive Average sides without strikers get relegated.
