How Dos left isn't the point. To some it's the fact he has. He could have done a lap giving away thousands of pounds to each person and some people will still feel hard done by because he didnt buy them a house.
We've got to move on. Dos has. Be happy for what we had rather than what we've lost.

I'm gutted he's gone but the horse has now bolted so mentioning anything about the gate being left open now is pretty pointless.
Time for a rebuild, rethink, new era and all that. Let's just be grateful for his enormous efforts and generosity which will never be forgotten and back the new manager and the team to the hilt.

Nothing is forever. We all change our employer and will be replaced. Sometimes by someone even better.

I do appreciate everything Dos did for us and understand why he left. It just seems more than coincidence that a club just down the road from him suddenly had a managerial vacancy after he left us.

Seriously you’ve got to let it go.
11 years of sheer hard work.
Paul D could have left and headed down the road to Carshalton Athletic and he still worked tirelessly for SU.
I think if anyone who contributes to this forum thinks for a minute what he did and if you would do the same.

I have never seen a mojo, but you can't half feel it when its gone? Dos took the one we borrowed for 11 years with him.
It is time for the grieving to stop, but the onus is very much on the club now to put that mojo back. I don't think its something the fans can do, it has to be a dream or path set by the club itself. A clear direction is required, some people on here just sitting around waiting for relegation must be convinced otherwise. Matt can do his job on the pitch, but he has his hands full with his 1st management job, the message has to be a central one.

Ok final ever post from me. This is the most discourteous thread possible to me and my family! In eleven years I always put the club first! There are no conspiracy theories, my parents health and mine came first for once! I fully intended to return, and agonised over my decision for weeks. In the end I couldn’t commit to the four hour drive, four times a week. Yes I got the Havant job, it’s perfect for me logistically and yes I made people aware that I wanted to stay in Hampshire for my next job. Yes I will sign players that Matt has chosen not to sign only if I think they will help me win football matches, and of course I will sign other players that used to play for me in the past as well because I know their character and trust them The accusation that I left the club because we had gone as far as we could is ridiculous, similarly Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn’t of achieved as many points as we got with twelve first team players suffering long term injury. We chose not to replace/loan anybody as we didn’t want to go over budget, and I think the team performed a minor miracle finishing tenth without so many quality players unavailable. The reality check is we finished above full time clubs with enormous budgets such as Chesterfield and just competing in the National League is an achievement. Matt Gray is an inspired appointment who should be backed wholeheartedly and when we get to the magical 50 point total next season be applauded. I didn’t want to make a fuss when I left the ground overshadowing the teams performance that day, but I am coming up to the first midweek game that I can to say goodbye properly. As always I’m happy to answer any questions on that night but those answers won’t be any different to what I’ve already said. I hope you all have a great summer and look forward to seeing you at the ground next season. Dos 💛

I really hope that isn't your final ever post.
Kind of sad if it is, after all you've done for this wonderful football club.

The fact that you feel you have to come on here after all you have done to defend yourself is disgraceful. Best of luck at Havant.

Must be awful having given so much over so long to then have your integrity questioned when it finally comes to an end by people who have nothing better to do than peddle such appalling inaccuracies.
The title of this thread and the post that opened it reflects more about the poster than it does about its intended target. And if I saw that reflection in a mirror I wouldn't be happy.

I'm afraid its a reality of life and of the internet that there will be threads like this. You will come across them at Havant as well.It just comes with the job. It could have been started by a 10 year old !
You must realise that the vast majority of Sutton fans fully support your decision and wish you and your family good luck with whatever comes next. We appreciate what you have done for the club and will never forget.

Honestly it just comes across as disrespectful and ungrateful. It's ok to have an opinion even if it differs from others, it's fine to feel differently from how other people do, but to come out and accuse someone who's done that much for us of lying by omission is really out of order.
Anyway, Dos, wishing you every success at Havant. I know there are some really nice people there so hopefully you'll feel welcome like you did here (and hopefully still do).

You are a Sutton United legend, nothing will change that to those who care. Good luck at Havant and thanks for everything you did for our club

A genuine suggestion here.
Aside from the grief mentioned previously (which I think for many of us is pretty real) I think there is a fear of what happens next. As oldman says we all support Sutton United, not Dos (no disrespect there at all) else we'd all be buying Havant season tickets next season.
We know Matt Gray has the full backing of the board, we've been told he has the unanimous support of the dressing room, and comes with the highest endorsement from Dos. So perhaps in the next few weeks (and not next week) there can be a meet the manager set up where the fans (especially those with concerns) actually get a chance to meet the manager for what would be the first time for many. Maybe that will give the fanbase as a whole to actually start moving forward rather than looking back and pointing fingers and calling conspiracy (which is to be frank a load of old toss). I understand that he's busy at the moment getting players in etc, but a couple of hours one evening in the middle of June (but announced now so that the fans actually know it's going to happen) may do a hell of a lot to get us all on the same page come August. I don't want to be negative but I can't recall one fan on any social media platform (including this one) who has gone and said "wow this is a fantastic appointment" but we have seen a lot of the opposite, and it will be a chance to give us all a boost at a time where all we are seeing is players leaving. Not a trial by fire for Matt, but a golden opportunity to get this wonderful fanbase behind him more and make his job easier.
If you are one of the officials of the club and reply "yes we are planning one of those already" then you needed to communicate this earlier. We all felt a strong connection with Dos and if Matt wants "evolution not revolution" this one gesture will go a long way to reinforce that.
