While it's relatively quiet round here, I've noticed next year 29 February falls on a Saturday for the first time since 1992 and therefore next season is likely to be the first time in 28 years we play on that date, assuming whatever fixture is planned for that date goes ahead. I'm fairly certain we didn't play on Thursday 29 February 1996 and we definitely didn't on 29 February 2004, 2008, 2012 or 2016.
Alas, I've archived my old programmes from the 1960s to the '90s so can't check who we played - assuming we did - on Saturday 29 February 1992, or on any other Leap Day in history. Just for fun, does anyone else know?

My programmes and record books are similarly archived since I moved in February last year - it's about time I retrieved them and stopped paying storage fees! But on that date I was at Chertsey Town watching them lose 0-1 at home to Bamber Bridge in the 6th round of the FA Vase. And all these years later, next Saturday I'll be watching Chertsey in the FA Vase again!

On February 29th 1992 we lost away to Marlow by one goal to nil. I dare say some of our number will have been at the game. That result would have been a bit of a disappointment because we were third in the Diadora at the time, albeit a billion points behind Woking.
Note to self: It would appear from my records that I've never seen a match on Leap Day. I must try to rectify that next year.

Prior to the 1992 fixture mentioned above, U's lost to Barnet in 1964 by 2-1 in an Amatuer Cup 3rd round replay. In 1958, they thrashed Wimbledon 5-0 at Plough Lane to reach the London Senior Cup final for the first time and in 1936 defeated Aylesford Paper Mills in a friendly by 4-3.

Interesting - so this will be at least the 5th time we have played on Leap Day (again we have to say "presumably" because we can't tell the future). Note to self: It would appear from my records that I've never seen a match on Leap Day. I must try to rectify that next year. Now you mention it, neither have I. We'd better fix that!

If we’re at home, what are you going to put in the programme now?!

You think the majority of programme readers will remember a post from 9 months previous?
If they do them I am stuffed.
