Hi to all I used to leave in North Cheam and watched Sutton regularly from about 90- 941 As I get older(37) I'm finding myself reminiscing more and more and am planning a visit back to the old stomping ground to watch a game Has ggl changed much since then? Is the shoe box still there? I used to remember away fans changing ends at half time sometimes running across the pitch I remember the rivalries with Carshalton and there keeper who had a ponytail! Players like Feltham and Steve smart and ollie morah are part of mh footballing fabric too Looking forward to taking a game in, anyone off here from a similar time?

There are lots of fans still around from that era.
Main ground change since then is the squaring off of Collingwood Road end with small covered terrace.
The ponytail was Les Cleevely who later played for Sutton

Can't imagine I'll recognise anyone or vice versa Left the area when I was about 13 or so and haven't been to ggl since Used to remember the hot dogs from the little shack right by the shoebox Ahh the memories The cup run one year that took us to torquay and Colchester and Notts County really cemented my love for the game Have travelled all over Europe with spurs now but gonna get down ggl for sure I live near Yeovil now and Sutton go there in Sept on a Tuesday night, will many make the journey on a Tues night to Somerset?

Great effort If anybody not travelling on supporters coaches needs any info on parking or a pub nearer the time I'm happy to help The ground is an age away from the train stations There's a commercial/industrial estate 5 mins walk away where there will be plenty of parking and easy to get away from at night too Yeovils support dwindling fast

I was around at that time and after a loooong time away I’m now back - we are a similar age so I may well remember u, Smarty was my favourite player back then when I come back a couple years ago things had changed ofcourse but a lot of the faces were just the same - a very strange feeling like being back ‘home’ with extended family - be warned tho once u come back it’s hard to let go again

Not got such fond memories of Dominic feltham as others but Steve smart was definitely a favourite whilst Ollie morah is a striker I haven't seen the likes of at ggl since, what pace! What school did you go to? I'm planning to go to yeovil away as have family down there, if so definitely up for a beer and a reminisce about the glory days of early/mid 90s (Simon quail anyone)?

Welcome to the forum sw2yid, I didn’t come onto the scene with Sutton until the late 90s sadly - would’ve loved to experience the cup runs of the early 90s you’ve mentioned.
The ground has changed considerably over the years for the better people will say but I do miss how it was when I first started watching the U’s.
Will you likely attend the Yeovil v Sutton game? We’re a welcoming and friendly bunch!

I'm the same age as you but started going when I was 13 (1995) so it looks like we just missed each other! Maybe we will see you at Yeovil.

Localboy yes I will be attending the game I work a few miles away from the ground and am as buzzing for it as I was the CL final with spurs, well perhaps not quite as much but almost 😂

Ahh Simon quaill Remember the Colchester game when they were singing something along the lines of who's the faggot in the gloves and then he proceeded to score a winner down our end. Great Times I went to all the Cheam Park farm schools and then Cheam high untill the family moved out the area I grew up on Henley avenue Planning a visit in August just to walk around the old neighbourhood and see if it is how I remember it

Deffo baboon fish There's not much around Huish One pub the arrow a 10 min walk away but Is always a mix of home and away in there Other than that it's Yeovil town centre and a 10 min taxi ride up to the ground Yeovils ground is far too large for them now, they've been known to go old school and let the kids in at half time for free 😂😂
