Thought I'd start a recommended pub feature for away games this season.
In Hartlepool it has to be the Rat Race Ale House, reckoned to be the second micro-pub to open in the UK (after the Butcher's Arms, Herne, Kent). The location could hardly be handier for train travellers as it's at the station (in what used to be the newsagent's). Expect a choice of beers from Yorkshire and North-east England, possibly including a dark one. No fizzy lager or spirits. Seats about 20 people. Opens at noon.

It is very pleasing to read positive comments about Hartlepool on this thread. Any Sutton supporter coming to the game is invited to use the Corner Flag Club for a pre match drink. The C. F. is the home of H.U.F.C. Supporters Assoc. and visiting supporters are guaranteed a warm welcome. Drinks are very reasonably priced e.g. Strongarm, brewed in Hartlepool, just £2.90 a pint. The club is situated on the N.W.corner of the ground. Safe journey to all.

So...anyone driving up in the morning I hope you have a better one than mine earlier. Staying in Harrogate overnight but it took about 6 hours to get here from Sutton. My fault for leaving on a Friday....

Journey not great for train travellers either. The 8.06 from Kings Cross was cancelled. Fingers crossed for the 11.27 (and the train back this evening).

Scary finish! 5 minutes of stoppage time, plus another 2 (correctly added in my opinion due to the goal, substitution, two bookings, etc). However, despite a lengthly free kick & corner for which a Maidenhead player was booked for time-wasting, the early kickoff finished with just 1 second more than the 4 minutes indicated.

Only 50 more points and hopefully in a playoff position, could it be possible for MG to take us up in his first season? Well I can dream can’t I. Well done all for today and cheer up Jeff Stelling🙇♂️

Great start for the Matt Gray regime, and a result that very few would have predicted.
We set up with Aaron Jarvis as a lone striker, and it was no surprise that the early threat came from the home side. But two goals against the run of play from Harry Beautyman, assisted by right-wing crosses from Dale Bennett and Tom Bolarinwa, gave us an unexpected cushion.
It was perhaps inevitable that Gimé Touré would score against us, cutting in from the right to halve the deficit on the stroke of half-time. But he otherwise had a fairly quiet game, Pools' main threat coming from Nicke Kabamba who struck the foot of a post between Harry's goals.
They ramped up the pressure after half-time, but a Sutton defence superbly led by Jamie "Fat Bastard" Collins held firm. With the clock running down, and Pools pushing forward, we had opportunities on the break to kill off the contest. Sub David Ajiboye squandered one such chance, but, deep into stoppage time, Will Randall beat Killip for our third - and second place in the embryonic table.
