I have close relatives who live in Harrogate. They have advised me tonight that the UCI road world cycling championships are taking place in Harrogate from 22-29 September. Massive disruption to road traffic is expected. Road closures will be in effect and the Premier Inn near my nephews for example, has no vacancies already on the night before our match up there. My nephew is a teacher and his school will be closing for two days that week. Are our club officials aware that this event is taking place over that week when our away fixture is scheduled for 28 September, do you think.

This was fairly extensively discussed in an earlier thread, soon after the fixtures came out. I'm sure that our club's officials are well aware of the situation. And Harrogate Town FC certainly will be! If the fixture were going to be moved, I think we'd have heard by now.
A number of us are travelling up by train. I'm staying in Knaresborough because the accommodation in Harrogate is fully booked (unless you're willing to shell out £120 for one night).

The race on Saturday 28th is the women's elite . Starting at Bradford, skirting Harrogate to the west then coming into the town from the north and finishing with three 12km laps around the town. The station and Harrogate Town FC are both outside of the circuit. Full details from Yorkshire.com worlds.yorkshire.com/map/#/route/1264Race finishes about 16:00 but some road closures go until 18:00. The main spectator area seems to be along Parliament street which is the street where the Spoons (The Winter Garden) is. Likely to be very busy I would have thought, as will the trains.
