Not sure how this will go down but here goes . In my opinion as well as a striker , or two , we also need a new manager ...... and fast . I am all for loyalty but the way things are going our loyalty will see us relegated . It is a results business and we are not getting them .

Fair to say it wasn’t great but shoving all that to one side the biggest scandal was the announcement of +3,000 crowd. If there was more than 1,000 then my name is Quentin Quicksand III
But back to the football, forget tonight, Fylde will get hammered on Saturday, hammered 1-0....

Last season we also conceded twice in this fixture. The difference was that we scored two goals of our own. Without a wily and experienced brute of a forward like Ross Lafayette (who provided a goal and an assist in that game) we simply lack a cutting edge.
The closest we came to scoring this evening was just before half-time, when Tom Bolarinwa cut in and drew a fine, low save from Ryan Boot. But otherwise Boot was largely untroubled.
Matt did shake up the starting XI, Dale Bennett making a welcome return at right back, Dan Matzusaka coming in for the injured Jamie Collins, and Kenny Davis taking the captain's armband. There was also a change of wide men, Kyel Reid and Tom replacing David Ajiboye and Will Randall. Craig Eastmond stayed on the bench.
As expected, much of Solihull's threat came from the air, their opening goal arriving when one of Lee Vaughan's monster throws was flicked on and finished by their new signing Jake Beesley. (We used to defend those well.) We looked more of a threat in the second half when we got the ball down and ran at them, but flowing moves repeatedly foundered on the rocks of the home defence. Once they'd gone 2-0 up from the penalty spot there was little chance of getting anything from the match, and so it proved.
Chesterfield's surprise win at AFC Fylde and Harrogate's late equaliser at Wrexham ended up keeping us out of the bottom four, but we're now just a point above the drop zone. Saturday's trip to Fylde (21st v 19th) is set to be a tense encounter.

I wasn't there so can't comment on the game but I think if we don't get decent results against Fylde, Billericay and Ebbsfleet in our next 3 games then I think it is fair to start asking questions on the managers position.
I am supportive of Matt so far but we need to be beating the teams around us and also a team lower than us in the FA Cup IMO.

There are only 6 changes realistically you can make to a football team to improve the performances. 1. The formation/tactics 2. The players 3. The Management 4. Fitness levels 5 .The kit 6. The pitch

QQ III Wasn't it a free admission game ? Perhaps they gave 2,000 tickets away to local citizens, school children etc etc and counted them in.Of course they weren't actually there. Some clubs have been known to pull strokes in this fashion....................

I understand that many clubs (if not all, no idea about that to be honest) count non-attending s/t holders as part of the overall attendance. I have no strong feelings about it either way but would be curious to know, particularly with anyone from a health & safety background, what the situation would be if a major incident occurred inside a ground and the emergency services had to attempt to account for people who may not even be in attendance. I realise that's a kind of doomsday scenario but could a club face legal repercussions in such a situation? E.g a Bradford fire situation where we're looking for say, 500 people who aren't actually there?

Anyone wondering what Nick Knowles and his team was doing this summer (unlikely I know) should look no further than Dansom Park. The amount of improvements Moors have carried out since U's last visit over a year ago was impressive in particular the main stand but pride of place has to be the excellent playing surface and the floodlights; let's just hope the pilots landing aircraft at nearby Birmingham airport don't get confused. This is a club with money it would appear but less impressive were the "golf" stands populating the far side weighed down from being blown away by a number of very large concrete blocks. And don't get me started on the stewards (or the attitude of one of them, anyway).
As for the match, even though offered a pristine surface the home side's main threat was aerial and from a long throw. Sutton had already barely coped with a number of these when the first goal inevitably arrived from Vaughan's hands and debutant, Beesley, flicked the ball into the corner. Playing up the hill, U's struggled to keep the ball in the Moors defensive half fashioning the only shot on target of the first 45 mins late in the half when Tom B's slightly deflective effort was saved low down by Boot.
Second half and down the slope, U's looked a greater threat with Kyel Reid making a number of in roads down the left. Marshalled by a slimmed down Daly, Moors repelled the U's fight back while looking a better bet to score from open play than they had in the first half. One effort struck a post before with U's still in the ascendancy the second, killer goal, arrived. Poor Dan M. Inactive for much of this season, his only two starts have sen him stretchered off to hospital and to concede a penalty with a rather misjudged challenged. Wright cooly converted and game over. When U's did have the home defence in disarray, Aaron J chose an attempted pass rather than trying a shot and the ball slid harmlessy out of play. Jamie B was only really extended once so to lose to a header from a long throw and a pen is disappointing.
No goals in four now and that has to be the biggest concern. The effort and energy is still on show but the application and quality in the last third is lacking. One win in eleven but such is the NL still outside the bottom four. Meanwhile, Woking, one win in nine and still in the top six. Strange beast the NL.
Ref last night missed a couple of naughty challenges from Solihull in a first half where we got little but overall wasn't too bad and consistent with his cards by leaving them in his pocket.
The 3k plus crowd obviously included many who had signed up online but stayed at home on the night and anyone who thinks Sutton's matchday catering can't cope at times would not have fancied the h-t queues last night. KBB was gutted that the hog roast had been replaced by pies and a cold, overpriced sachet of chips. The decision not to segregate also had its moments as the local comprehensive turned out in force to spend the second half goading the Sutton fans who did a fine job in keeping singing throughout. They were outside the ground after too although I don't think anything "went off". See 'em at GGL later in the season? I doubt they'll be at Solihull on Saturday when its back to normal for paying guests. Nor the guy wo called me a twit in the second-half. He may have been right in his choice of description but doesn't give him the right to call me it, unprovoked. I can't repeat my response back to him on this family orientated forum (hmm). Steward meanwhile more concerned about vaping than quelling a potential flash point.
Onto Fylde who continue to defy the pundits and sit below U's in the table. Not sure its a six pointer at this stage of the season but a victory for either side won't do the collective confidence any harm.

It really pissed me off because they changed into a kit bearing a Champions logo on their sleeves when they weren't. Should've been fined millions.
