Miami would probably be my choice of venue for a winter sport like NFL. What did you think of the city in general Billy? 3/4 day break or worth a bit longer?
I can see London getting a franchise side in the NFL one of these days.

I took our two sons to an NFL game at the impressive Joe Robbie Stadium in 1990.The game was Miami Dolphins against Phoenix Cardinals. The star player at the time was Dan Marino, but i can't remember the score. Not my cup of tea but the boys enjoyed it which was the main thing. We ended up taking them to see quite a few games of The London Monarchs team at Wembley over the next year or so in what, i have just looked up ,was called The WLAF.Wasn't the old Sutton goalkeeper Ronnie Fearon involved (as a kicker, nice work if you can get it) for one of those NFL teams ?

Sorry all , I forgot to add my text to billy’s quote - an own goal I suppose !
I remember Ronnie Fearon , I also seem to remember he was looking to go to the States on a scholarship or similar as a kicker because his goal kicks were so good . Cannot recall which team though .

I remember being astonished when the Miami Dolphins kicker,Pete Stoyanovich, got off his backside, kicked it over the bar then returned to his seat.As well as Fearon i think Clive Allen had a short spell doing it.

I must admit that I am a bit disappointed with VAR this season too . I was/am still in favour of technology for the Premier League but when it comes down to part of a shoulder being offside and therefore a goal being ruled out I think it is going too far . Seems to take some of the fun out of football , although if a goal against us was ruled out because an oppositions nose hair was deemed offside then that would be good !

It’s not £350 for a NFL ticket. Tickets are still pricey though £100-£150 per ticket.
I paid £110 last year for a Club Wembley ticket to see the mighty a eagles beat the Jaguars.
The kicker for the London Monarchs was Phil (I think that’s his name) Alexander who used to play for Wokingham Town.

Sadly ,Cricket,or at least International Cricket ,has gone the same way.A 5 minute enquiry virtually every time someone is given out.In the County Championship if The Umpire gives you out that's that.

I'm only going by what my friend told me & she said "Two tickets have cost me just shy of £750 and they're not the expensive seats either".

^^^ Could well be that the Patriots are more expensive that most since they're the Real Madrid of the NFL ^^^

As a married woman with young children who has only missed 1 away match in the last 15 years (and no home ones!) I have to say I appreciate the laugh this wet Monday morning. I know Billy said mostly, but as with most stereotypes that's not true either although there are quite a few who fit into that category. Not that it really matters but I did chuckle. Where on earth have I gone wrong in life ! My wife and daughter do not even watch football on tv let alone go to an actual match . Many years ago when our daughter was about seven I took her to GGL for her first match . I went there in the hope that she would become as passionate as me about our beloved SUFC and I had a vision of many a shared Saturday afternoon watching matches and eating pies at halftime . This dream lasted all of about ten minutes when she looked at me and asked if it was nearly all over yet ! So , Sallycat , do you have a sister !! Sorry, I don't but if I did, chances are she wouldn't go either. Neither my brothers nor my parents have even a passing interest in football and some of them actively dislike it! I'm the only one. Dunno where you've gone wrong but I suppose I have the same problem...It's practically impossible to convince my husband to come to a Sutton match. I've managed it once in about 8 years and that was only because it was my birthday and he had to humour me...

Ah yes, I believe he was the FB. And one of only a couple of British-born players in the Monarchs squad, from memory. I used to love those chants of "There's only one Victor Ebubedike!" Saw him score a TD from a 1yd drive at the old Wembley and the crowd went berserk.

Most American football games are sold out because you buy the right to buy tickets (like the arsenal debentures) and those holding debentures who don't want to go to a particular game release the ticket either to the club or to a broker and in either case they attract a premium depending on the team and opposition. Dallas high/Tampa bay low etc. $350 for a Pats game at home sounds about right. Going to an NFL game is not for the feint hearted as a beer (bud piss usually) will be around $12 and can go to $16
Gridiron can be exciting in the last two minutes when filed position and time outs make it a strategy game but there 1-3 hours of fairly uninteresting stuff to wade through before that.
After almost 30 years I can tolerate NFL as background entertainment but NBA /MLB I'll pass
