A model player for the club. We have to respect his decision and wish him well for the future, but his departure leaves something of a hole to fill in the right back position.

A real shame for Sutton United but the best decision in the circumstances for Dale . What better reason to retire from football than to spend more time with his family . Good luck to him and his family for the future , thank you for everything you have done for our club , you will be sorely missed .

All the very best Dale, you'll be hugely missed. Best of luck with the business although if you put in as much effort in on that as you did on the pitch you won't need luck. Come back and see us soon.

Really sorry to hear about Dale's problems but it's good to hear he's optimistic about his future. He's been a firm favourite of mine and I'm gutted to see him go. All the best Dale and thanks for all your hard work.

I'm pretty gutted about this. When fit he was was one the few players who automatically made the side, and with very good reason. Top player, top defender and top man. It must have been hard for him to make that call too as he obviously loved playing and takes real strength of character to call it quits at a relatively young age.
All the best Dale.

Such a shame but understandable. Its always sad when a player has to retire early and my mine goes back to Kes,our centre back, who had to do the same.

Just to echo the sentiments above. Great shame for Dale and of course the club. The club has been endowed with some fine right backs over the years and Dale was the most recent in a long line.
Best of luck Dale for the future Dale.
