And so we look to Tuesday night Part II with Billericay after the late heroics of Alan Julian on Saturday.
As has been commented on the other match thread - the tie should already be over but annoyingly it’s not and we’re going to have to roll our sleeves up and do the job in this replay. Aside from pocketing much needed funds of £18,000 and with the draw for the First Round Proper tonight - there could be a sizeable carrot for winning on Tuesday.
I wonder if Matt will go with a similar set-up and shape to Saturday with two up top.. personally thought Bugiel and Wright worked quite well together and think they could have some joy tomorrow night. I would bring Bardens energy back in - was surprised to see him benched on Saturday.

Regarding the draw, remember that the last ball out of the bag tonight get a bye to the 2nd round (and the prize money that goes with it) due to the demise of Bury.
What are the chances that we get drawn away to the Bobbins (aside from the actual statistical chances)!??!

If Sutton win tomorrow night drawing Carshalton at home would be awesome. Failing that, being the last ball out and grabbing 36k for doing nothing would be more than welcome.

If my calculations are correct and all things being normal, we should be ball no.77 in the draw tonight (Ball 76 if the FA have not assigned a ball to Bury which I presume is the case).
Edit - just seen the post on the main website. Ball 76 it is!

Isn't every tie a potential banana skin? It matters not one jot whoever you play. It's the FA Cup. Ipswich, Sunderland or Portsmouth away or indeed at home may be a TV game.
But don't want get too ahead of myself. There is the replay with Billericay to negotiate first!

JAMIE O’Hara has called on Billericay Town to make sure they reach the FA Cup first round for a third consecutive campaign after Alan Julian’s heroics kept the club’s dreams alive. Billericay are set to welcome National League outfit Sutton United to the Steel Team Stadium for a fourth qualifying round replay tonight, after goalkeeper Julian’s injury time leveller. And O’Hara, who took over as the National League South side’s player-manager last month, is still in belief at how the tie ended. O’Hara said: “It’s crazy that so much has happened in the last three weeks since I took charge, both on and off the pitch. “But Jules’ goal was the most Billericay moment I have known. “Jordan Parkes had missed a chance just before that and I thought that was it, but then the goalkeeper scored a 93rd minute equaliser and it was an incredible moment. “I am always hammering Jules and telling him what to do better, but he kept us in the game with some fantastic saves and then scored that goal as well. “It was an unbelievable moment and that doesn’t happen very often, so I told Jules to enjoy it.” However, O’Hara was keen not to get carried away after Julian cancelled out Omar Bugiel’s early opener for Sutton. And the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder insists Billericay still have a job to do tonight. “I didn’t get overexcited because, at the end of the day, we drew the game and there is still lots to do,” added O’Hara. “Sutton are a good side and, for some reason, they are better away from home at the moment. “It’s going to be another difficult game and we just need to focus on ourselves. “We did a lot of things well and it’s important that we build on that. “What Jules did was incredible and we need to make sure that was a catalyst for getting us through to the first round.” Julian made numerous key saves to keep Billericay in the tie at Gander Green Lane. But Billericay also created chances of their own, with Jake Robinson and Parkes among those going close. Julian, who was already a fans’ favourite before his unlikely equaliser deep into injury time, ensured the two sides will meet again and O’Hara felt a draw was the fair outcome. O’Hara admitted: “I thought we played really well in the second half, but we were a bit sloppy before that. “However, a draw was definitely a fair result. “We rode our luck at times but we went for it in the second half and deserved to take something out of the game. “It was a big result for us and our home form is really good, so we are confident. “I know it was a difficult one for Sutton to take because of how our leveller came. “But they have a good manager, so they will know what to do after that situation. www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/17984571.jamie-ohara-calls-billericay-town-make-goalkeeper-alan-julians-unlikely-leveller-count-winning-fa-cup-replay-sutton-united/

It's a real shame that our local paper doesn't even cover local football anymore. I know they're struggling a bit with the digital age, but there is literally nothing www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/sport/suttonunited/There does seem to be a couple of stories about the Bobbins though. Not quite sure how that works (do the Bobbins write stories and send it to them to publish?)

From what little I know about the subject Andy,if the newspaper doesn't regard SUFC as particularly important, the football club (or any organisation for that matter) really needs the services of a Press/PR person to:
- Supply consistent newsworthy copy/news stories to the said paper - Spend time forging links and developing a relationship with the publication and its sports editor. Being liked and viewed favourably is huge part. - create "copy" that will be in the right format, length, doesn't require huge amounts of sub-editing by the in house staff so as to take a way as much of the effort from the sports desk.
All of the above would probably require a club or fan "volunteer" / budding or trained journalist who knows how these things work and crucially can devote the time. We have many brilliant club servants who put in hours of unpaid work for the love. What makes this tricky is that the volunteer needs to have specific skills too. Or pay a PR firm which costs money!!

Our local paper isn’t “local” anymore it has more about Croydon and other places south than it does about Sutton, other than of course the local council. It seemed to cut right back on Sutton United just after Dos’s departure and there’s been a dearth of reporting since then.

Johnnie did a valiant job with the South London Sport website, which for a couple of years filled the void left by the local paper's withdrawal from football coverage, but in the end this became too much of a demand on his time.
I hope everybody from Sutton is up for this evening's replay and not diverted by the media coverage given to our opponents and their goalkeeper. My recommended pub in Billericay is the Railway (1 High St CM12 1BE) which, as the name suggests, is handy for the station. It's a fair-sized, traditional pub with a decent choice of ales, possibly including one from the local Wibblers brewery (yes, really).

I think you are bang right. Carshalton manage it because they probably need the local press more than we do at the level they are playing. As we're featured more in mainstream media such as the BBC website, the return on investment may not be worth it. I think if I remember hearing rightly, the Guardian shut down their sports desk in the last year or so, so now depend on external contributions (however impartial they may be). And of course there's the whole other argument that we're probably the only club at this level that doesn't get featured regularly on BBC local radio. Victim of location I expect. It's a shame however as there are plenty of people looking for their first steps into sports journalism who would jump at the chance of being that volunteer, but I expect we're not really in a position to manage them effectively for their own development.

Ditto what Billy says (well the first part anyways). Can’t be there tonight unfortunately so will be following closely by the means of twitter - really hope we can do the business and get a confidence-building victory in the process winning that much-needed prize-money.

3-1 down. Sounds like the worst one yet. Let's see if the manager can earn his money at half time
