The millionaire property developer has gone. The club cannot afford to be in this league any more.Relegation will be a blessing in disguise.
You can't keep tapping the public for money either, there have been more than enough schemes asking for the punters to put their hand in their pocket.
Perhaps one idea would be to start charging people to get in to matches ! If Tesco introduced a "Buy 10 and get thirteen free" scheme i'm sure they would soon go skint.

Just had a thought ....... how long is MG’s contract ? Good point. I did look back at the news stories and couldn't find the length written down, so I'm presuming 2 years (hence why disposing of his services now will be such a big blow to the budget). if the board have A- appointed the wrong man and B- given him a contract that makes it financially impossible to sack him then that's 100% on them. With a risky rooky manager I'd be amazed if there isn't a clause to make the parting not too painful. We had 9 points after 5 games, the form since speaks for itself and were currently on course to get 41 points, miles behind staying up. I don't see any evidence this can be turned around, I don't see what the team are being asked to do. We don't have a style, a pattern, nothing. I just can't see what the manager is trying to impose on the players.Neither use nore ornament, so I wouldn't give this set up a chance of setting the division below alight. Clearly shouting and yr own players and manager is counter productive and that's pointless too. For me, we're drifting to a 35 point season and a fight with Chorley to not finish bottom

Still not sure I buy in to the argument that we can’t afford to sack the Manager. I actually am starting to believe we can’t afford NOT to sack the Manager. The way results are going and the team are performing we are headed for a very very bad season and I have seen very few comments on here from contributors who believe otherwise.
The financial impacts of being relegated would outweigh any settlement of Matt’s contact though of course changing the Manager does not guarantee survival. Such action would, however, give us a chance of survival where under the current leadership that is starting to look most unlikely.
If that is the case we should accept that the Manager will have to go and act decisively and quickly. The alternative is what? We hang on to a Manager into relegation and beyond to next year who has no track record and shows no sign of being able to turn things round until his contract expires? That seems unlikely so why not change what is clearly not working and do so now.
As a final thought I have followed this club for over fifty years and anyone who thinks that Bruce or the Board are not committed and passionate or don’t care about the future of the club is simply wrong and misguided.

For the record , my view of our board is that like us they very much do care about the club and it’s short and long term ambitions . By now at least some must have severe reservations about the managerial qualities of MG , be that in private or otherwise . Like us they will be hoping for a near future turn around of the teams performances and fortunes , if only to save themselves the task of sourcing a new manager and all of the costs etc involved . That said I for one think the latter is unavoidable if they , like us , wish to remain in this league .

Might not be economically viable. Matt Gray might leave but he is on a contract and that would mean less money to get in a successor. Conference South might be Sutton's level. It has been a good ride up until now and there is the possibility of a return. I am sorry but if teams such as Maidenhead and Bromley can play at National level, I don't buy that. Our problem is poor defending and and abysmal shooting, yes a tad of hard luck too, but as they say you make your own luck. Maidenhead have an excellent manager. There are always teams playing above their means in any division, your Wimbledon's and Cambridge's of the 90's, Bournemouth's of current times or yeovils of the 2010s, whether it's by financial means or well organized teams with talented managers. It's time to face facts. We can't afford to be in this division and we won't stay in it without a talented or experienced manager. Which we don't have, nor can we afford to replace ours with one. The board made the choice they thought was best for the club, unfortunately it's going south and it's looking increasingly obvious gray does not have the experience or loan contacts to turn it around. He may given time be a successful manager for us or another side but will probably need to find his feet in the conf south. Changing manager may not make any difference to our plight anyway, but not doing so means the board is OK with that.

quite correct, and so predictable. This has to be the most incompetent manager we have ever had. Looks like Bruce isn't bothered, though. What a 'joke' this club is becoming. You obviously don't remember Ian Hazel then. And I'm sure Bruce would tell you how bothered he is if you spoke to him. Whilst we're going through a tough time on and off the pitch, to say the club is becoming a joke without any substance on what can be improved beyond "sacking the manager" means that measurement is much more embedded in your reality rather than others.

Leaving aside the financial implications for a moment and of course we don't know what they may be.
I'm now taking the view that Matt is being too rigid in his thinking. Always has to use two wingers if available.Never changes this type of formation, before or during matches ( Plan B ), every corner has to go to the far post, no one stays up whilst we defend therefor having no outfield ball. He must realise every team has a video of how we play and can therefor counter this .
We don't have bad players but we do have an inflexible manager and if he doesn't realise our supporters are not happy with this then he must be living in a bubble.
Same old excuses in his interviews are starting to wear thin !

First and foremost I'm not in the mode of wanting a manager to be sacked. We forget that these men are human beings and I was only reading yesterday of the tragic story of Dermot Drummy who took his own life only six months after being sacked at Crawley.
Regarding the board who've been very shrewd across all areas. I would be shocked and disappointed if they handed a man with no managerial credentials a two year deal with no clauses. Whilst I can imagine putting clauses in that show a lack of confidence in him wouldn't be a great boost to him it safeguards us. I can't say I didn't see this situation coming. I've never been filled with confidence by his interviews and demeanour.
Not many managers cut their teeth at National league level. I worked with the Welling United trio of Loui Farzakley, Matt McEntegart and Paul Barnes who ended up sacked. They poured hours of graft daily into the job but to no avail on a shoestring. Anthony at Woking a superb coach but again cutting his teeth oversaw relegation.
Matt's in a much more fortunate position with a far better and experienced squad then they had. Maybe as mentioned an away day may take the pressure off somewhat..

Matt Gray inherited a compromised squad that spent the end of last season underperforming. Had Dos remained there is a strong possibility that we would be in a similar league position to where we now find ourselves. That doesn’t absolve Matt of any responsibility of our current plight, but the seeds were already sown.

I beg to differ - from Feb 16th our results were: P15, W2, D4, L9 Edit: sorry Del, just re-read your post and see what you mean. I still think that the rot started on Dos's watch and that any suggestion this current situation is all down to Matt is incorrect.

Except the squad he inherited wasn't compromised as you put it until he arrived early part of the year with his new ideas. Before that we were challenging at the top end of the division ! You're right. It may just be coincidence that we experienced a downturn in form after Matt arrive in December, although to be fair we were not setting the league alight in November and under performed against a Slough side that were more up for it than we were. I think the major factor there was Dos and his mindset though - he was so obviously mentally exhausted and to me I felt that reflected itself on the pitch. Matt was just a coach then and if all his ideas were taken on board and our form dipped as a result, that's more a reflection of how exhausted our management team were. I'd say it actually is less of an excuse for Matt as he was already in the setup, I expect would have known the issues and known the parameters he will have to work with before expressing interest in the role. I expect as part of the interview process he would have had to answer how he was was going to stop the rot. At the time of writing he hasn't. But I think plenty of people here have gone down that rabbit hole of how to improve. What I will say though that even though it's obviously not clicking on the pitch, I can't see any indication at all that he's lost the dressing room. Whilst that remains a case there is still a chance things may turn round and we may be still in this league next year.
