Firstly let me say that I take no pleasure in seeing the position our club is currently in. I started watching the club around the same time as you. I realise that in the last few seasons under Paul Doswell we really exceeded all expectations. I also appreciate that we don't want to stretch ourselves financially. However it really is depressing watching the team suffer the way they are at the moment. You must be hurting badly too. I do realise that there are budgetry constraints.
It is evident though that our current manager is learning nothing. Our squad is filled with players of a good quality but we are overloaded in certain positions whilst having no recognised right back. He has tried lots of different players there including both John Barden and Craig Eastmond tonight. The talents of both of these are being wasted. I feel that John should be playing regularly as a holding midfielder in front of the back line (3 or 4). We have 4 wingers in the squad and 6 central midfielders. Surely we could get someone n on loan from somewhere.
Also we have a Manager and two Assistant Managers. Are all these positions necessary? It may be too expensive to sack the Manager but he could be downgraded and one of the others - if they wanted to - could be put in his place. Micky Stephens after all is a Sutton legend.
I'm not sure what the answers are but I'm not paid to make these decisions. But something needs to be done urgently or we will be back in the National South and all of Dos's work will have been in vain.

Aside from most of the content on here which I won't comment on, the downgrading of the manager probably will come at a similar cost to sacking him. He would have to agree to that and I expect that would only happen in a extreme circumstance as contract law would still need to be upheld otherwise his contract would be broken and he would be entitled to the same wages even if his responsibilities were reduced. So under employment law its probably a non starter before anyone could make a judgement on the moral implications that sort of move would do.
The only way MG will stop being a manager would be if he resigns and I expect leaves the club. Going on last Thursdays meet the manager I'd say that is currently very unlikely.

After attending last Thursday's meeting i thought Matt Gray gave a confident performance and from what he was saying he believed he could turn this around. I could see why the board appointed him. On reflection now i'm beginning to have serious doubts mainly because of his inflexibility to change playing systems before and during games. We now need 9 points from the next 5 games to be on track for 50 at the end of the season.

We now need 9 points from the next 5 games to be on track for 50 at the end of the season. It's the unwillingness to experiment with different playing systems that is the real concern. To quote the novelist Rita Mae Brown :- "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." I really don't know whether a third of a season constitutes a sufficient trial of the current system but would feel that the management team really do need to try something different fairly soon.
