Perhaps there's a difference between making critical observations about a player as opposed to just asserting that 'he isn't any good'?
In the Ebbsfleet match I thought Randall was over hitting his passes, Davis looked off form and Butler had a hit and miss game. Doesn't mean to say I think they're no good.

Without repeating myself it's pretty straightforward. Everyone has the right to their opinion but it's best to bear in mind two points. A) With that right comes responsibility and any post you make may have unintended outcomes. When someone is negative about a player, that player will always have the chance of reading it. Not all of them will have thick skins (especially the younger ones) and theres a chance that it could negativity impact on their performance as a result. There have been plenty of examples where this has been the case, the most recent being Aaron Drinan last season who basically had the stuffing knocked out of him due to what was almost a relentless campaign by a small group of Sutton fans. Any player playing for us is unlikely to improve if they are being slagged off, either in person or online. B) With your right to your opinion comes the right for anyone else to challenge your opinion. If you don't want that challenge then don't offer it. You have no right to take that away from others. I don't necessarily disagree with all you say above, but I have a criticism, in that guildrover's post was an opinion on a team member, which, albeit negative, perhaps comes with the territory when one is a NL player and, presumably, is the sort of thing this forum exists for. On the other hand, whilst I don't personally have a problem with it, contrary to what you have stated, tonyd's post involved direct and personal abuse of guildrover, not just a challenge of his opinion.

The voice of reason and common sense (as usual) from AA though i don't agree entirely.Surely supporters must be able to vent their spleen ? If the players can't cope with it they should perhaps take a leaf out of Matt Gray's book and stay out of it Supporters certainly don't deserve to be called childish, snidey, morons and (i quote)......... Tough job for the Board when so many of the fans talk bollocks. Dunno about that, adds a bit of spice to the forum

I was about to post that i could see nothing snide, childish or irresponsible about that post.Unfortunately for the vast majority of supporters, at games and in this forum, we have a very small group of people who always think they know best and see it as their duty to "police" this place by correcting and nitpicking every time someone expresses an opinion or even misplaces a comma. As stated above ,many good posters have simply given up.No prizes can be given for guessing who they (the police) are as it would be akin to stating the bleeding obvious. This is a football forum for fxxx sake. Well, if you think it's alright to impugn the integrity of our management team by suggesting that a player is being selected because he is family to the coach, that's your problem. But when I see it I will challenge it, even if that makes me part of the "police".

Better for fans to use a fans forum or social media than at the match. Our players are well supported during games. You've been standing in the wrong place (actually the right place). There are places around the ground that I won't frequent because it makes me sick to hear certain comments from certain groups directed at certain players.

There are places around the ground that I won't frequent because it makes me sick to hear certain comments from certain groups directed at certain players. I know the conversations go on, but not heard any clear comments loudly, that doesn’t mean the players may not hear them if aimed towards the pitch. I will still say as a whole our players are well supported during games.

Am I the only person who doesn't rate Ben Goodliffe and thinks he is only in the team because his dad is the assistant manager? He can't seem to deal with crosses into the box and he seems to lose his man more often than not. I saw more from Pearce in the few games he played for us last season than I have from Ben. Personally I think Goodliffe’s done ok. Pearce maybe one for the future but needs to be more dominant/aggressive aerially to be a centre half at this level for me. Hope he’s doing some learning on loan and can come back stronger/better. Definite potential. Worth saying Goodliffe young too and not many get as many games at this level at such a young age. He’ll get better.
