Knocks, niggles, no luck and no goals.

By all accounts the lads played very well today and were unlucky not to come away from this fixture without at least a point . The highlights are not yet available but that is the impression I get . For once. I agree with MG that this two week League break is just what this club and our players need , I just hope that some of the first team squad that are picked for our SSC match include a couple of our strikers , hitting the back of the net ( hopefully ) is just what is needed to boost confidence . On the flip side is that if we were to lose the cup tie without scoring then any confidence would surely be shattered . For the first time in many seasons I would suggest that the team needs to do really well in this competition in the hope that any glory will rub off in the all important League . Off to put on my tin hat now for some possible incoming flak !! 🙈

Good interview from Matt. Very honest. Agree we are not getting the rub of the green in the last few matches.but hopefully this will change for the better which is what the Supporter's want at Home and Away.

Given the comments from other managers, and given that 'luck' normally evens itself out over a season,it won't be long before we are shooting up the table.

First to admit I was not at the match today and doubtless our work rate and desire were high - those are not at issue here. Seven games on the trot we have been ‘unlucky’. Matt himself poses the question in this interview “what do you want me to do? Change shape?, change the way we play?” Well, er, yes Matt. Maybe give either of those a go and see if our ‘luck’ changes.
Matt is clearly a nice guy with good intentions and it may be that in another time and another place he will be successful -happens all the time. These interviews however are all starting to sound a bit naive...
If not now, then when...

I was listening to Wokings 'Tony' interview manager Alan Dowson during their bad run and he doesn't pull his punches. He often prefixs a question with ' a lot of fans are asking why........' and Dowson deals with them all without getting annoyed. It would be nice if Tony did the same thing, but I won't hold my breath.

Funny how all the worse managers are unlucky so often and the good ones are always jammy

Not sure how many shots we had at goal yesterday without one finding the net. You can have the best manager in the world in charge but it won't necessarily make the ball go in the net. We mixed up the corners against Barrow which i was pleased to see. Our luck will change i'm sure.

I’m in no doubt Matt is a good coach, but it dawned on me that maybe he is still viewing this a coach and not a Manager.
A coach is given his players and he needs to try and get the best out of them and these interviews sound a bit like that.
A Manager can make the changes.
A Manager can sell, loan players out reduce the budget that way to bring in other players. The easy argument is to say nobody might want our players, I would say this is highly unlikely.
He needs to be trading up. Loaning in players that are better than we have, not a criticism of the players but maybe it would help force the change in “luck”.
A bit disappointed to hear Milsom was struggling for fitness yet the replacement left back we signed didn’t get another run out. I thought Wyatt looked ok at Yeovil, but if he is deemed not good enough to get past a struggling Milsom, loan him out free up some funds.
Something needs to change. We still never really troubled the keeper, the only real time we have done this recently is against what was a struggling Ebbsfleet and a team from the division below. Prior to that we were struggling to break down defences.

What's happening with the loan players? Pearce has been on loan from the start of the season according to MG to get match fitness Mason also both up from the academy and according to Dos rising stars. Seem to have been dumped by MG. Pearce even scored on his first outing at Fylde and has played a good few games with JC and as Goodliffe is off form why is Pearce not being brought back in. The SSC game should at least be a chance for him. It seems MG is trying to eradicate the DOS era and legacy.

Maybe we might get a bit luckier if we sign a right back rather than playing players out of position.
Losing is becoming a habit, same way good teams grind out barely deserved wins on a regular basis we seem to be finding a way to lose.
The team isn't scoring goals. Matt clearly isn't going anywhere so needs to find a way to change the team's 'luck' and lack of goals or we are going to be adrift by Xmas. Then it will be very hard to turn it around.

Exactly my point Del. Surely the SSC game should be used to evaluate and try changes without compromising our league position. Something needs to be done.
