Please see the club website article - www.suttonunited.net/amber-500-update-and-draw-details/ - for Jason Reynolds’ update on Amber 500 and all the news about the prizes and the draws. We have presently sold 152 of the 500 tickets available. We’ve got 8 weeks to go. With no game this coming Saturday and, just for this week, no costs incurred in going to watch the team, how about supporting the club by buying a share in an Amber 500 ticket instead? There have been some questions asked on this forum and via social media recently and maybe this is a good time just to remind everyone about the background to, and importance of, this scheme to the club. The idea behind the draw was actually unveiled by Dos at the Q&A meeting we held in the MBA Lounge back in March, at which we identified four key fundraising projects to help us to continue to challenge in the National League. The Amber 500 draw was one of those projects. Proud of our status as a “fans-owned” club it asked our growing number of supporters, who have enjoyed super low season ticket prices for several seasons now, to really back this scheme and help bridge some of that financial gap we needed to fill. Funds raised from it were to go towards funding the team’s away travel in the National League. That message, strongly conveyed by Dos back in March, is even more important now than it was then. The support of our brilliant fans has never been more vital, and if every season ticket holder bought even a quarter of a share in a ticket (just £25), we would be very quickly sold out. Join in with some friends and form a syndicate; alternatively we can organise a syndicate for you. This is your club. Let’s do this.

What could I win? The prize fund equates to 20% of the money raised from the raffle. If we sell all 500 tickets( as we hope to), that means we have £10,000 in the prize fund and there will be three cash prizes – £7,000 for the holder of the first ticket drawn out, £2,000 for second and £1,000 for third. There will also be three “money can’t buy” non-cash prizes which will be announced after the launch.
Current prize money,if my sums are correct.
Ist = 2,128
2nd = 608
3rd = 304

Current prize money,if my sums are correct. Ist = 2,128 2nd = 608 3rd = 304 So as things stand, if you have a ticket then you have about one chance in 150 of winning over £2,000. Sounds good to me! But one chance in 500 of winning £7,000 sounds even better.

So with no first team game this weekend the squad get a chance to rest. If it hadn't been for a fortunate last minute goal a few Saturday's back things would be looking a little different I'm sure. In which case many would be spending money on a ticket, and travel, to support our team. Looking back to the 1st round tie away against Cambridge - cracking game and day out despite the result - it seems 468 away fans made that trip.
It would be nice to think some of the fans saving their money this weekend might still be able to support the club whilst not on the away terraces. Without looking I imagine a ticket for the game plus travel costs could easily be £25 for a Billericay fan, which just so happens to be the cost of a syndicate ticket in the Amber 500 initiative. It wouldn't get us to the magic 500 but if the equivalent of the away fans that traveled to Cambridge spent £25 on a 1/4 ticket the funds raised by the club would nearly double over the weekend.
Of course not all will do so, and some have issues with a "raffle" and might prefer an alternative. It would be good if others could show their support in other ways, perhaps, and recycle some of that "saving" towards the Club. With a now free Saturday some might be missing their football fix and be Christmas shopping. How about utilising the club shop? Replica kit? DVD?
Or for a fraction of the 1st Round FA cup spend you could attend this week's "Then and Now", plus put some cash over the bar.
