This could be a good time for Sutton’s first ever visit to Edgeley Park! After losing a few loan players, who have been recalled by their parent clubs and suffering a heavy defeat against Dorking on Tuesday night Stockport could be low on confidence - well let’s hope so! Sutton should be near to full strength for the game, if so, there is no reason why a draw is the very least we should hope for. There should be room on the coach if you’re quick! Coach travel details here.

Kiss of death right there then! We could have said similar things about our last game at Chesterfield who had won once in the previous 9 (against an even more woeful Torquay) but we lost.
Having the benefit of 2 weeks off (in which Stockport played 2 games including a long weekend trip) should mean we are fresher than they are but that Tuesday night result is irrelevant to what happens on Saturday.
We know we are capable of going up there and getting something out of the game, we just need to make sure we do!

It's been an eventful week at Edgeley Park with a new owner and three new signings announced around the 4-0 Trophy defeat to Dorking Wanderers.
All that adds to the usual difficulty of predicting an outcome to tomorrow's match. Stockport's results have been pretty erratic this season, and have often involved a hatful of goals (pun intended). Their 0-0 draw at GGL in October (a game we really should have won) earned them a ship-steadying point following a run of five defeats; they'd lost their previous game 4-0 at home to Torquay. Several weeks later they lost 4-1 at home to Solihull but in their next match won 5-1 - at Torquay! On Boxing Day they beat Halifax by the same score at Edgeley Park; the return match on 1 January ended 0-0.
Stockport has many great pubs, but the one I'm picking out is the Arden Arms (23 Millgate SK1 2LX). Owned by traditional local brewery Robinson's, it's a Grade II listed building, a Victorian gem with a grandfather clock and a 'hidden' snug accessed through the bar. The lunches are recommended and it's also a live music venue. Close to the market place and a mile or so from Edgeley Park.

Are you commentating sol, or in with the away support? Looking forward to this one, not too far from me.

Are you commentating sol, or in with the away support? Looking forward to this one, not too far from me. I ended up with our supporters. Got pushed off the commentary! It’s fine - it’s nice to watch without having to think too much. Decent point - felt we created the better chances. Tommy on another day - might have won it for us.

Yup, as in the 0-0 at GGL in October we had the clearer chances, most of which fell to Tommy, but yesterday's was the harder earned point. Both sides defended well, with Louis John excellent for us. (I spoke to some County fans after the game and they echoed that.) I did think we missed Craig Eastmond.

Don't forget there were another 20 on top of that number who took advantage of the lunch package, including one of our ex-players from the 1950s, Colin Pearce. Stockport were very welcoming.

Stockport were very welcoming. 81st Birthday treat from his family, I believe. Said he played midfield/halfback in the days of Peter Malloy and Don Stoker. Perhaps Frakey can fill us in?

Enjoyed the trip up to Stockport on Saturday, a great old ground at Edgeley Park - I’m guessing the open air stand behind the goal we were attacking in the 2nd half used to be the old away end?!
Thought we defended superbly and on another day would probably have won - thought Stockport were rather ordinary and there for the taking but a clean sheet and another point on the road isn’t the end of the world. Hope Omar can shake off his dead leg ahead of next Saturday’s tough looking fixture at home against Solihull.

Colin Pearce played between 1956/7 season and 1961/2, although this may not have been consecutive. He made 12 league appearanced in '57/8 the season U's won the Athenian and also played in the London Senior Final in which U's defeated Finchley. He made 85 appearances mainly as a half back.

Top knowledge. Brilliant. Always a pleasure to bump into your goodself and KBB on away trips. I can’t tell you the admiration I have for supporters like you and KBB. And I hope clubs appreciate that support. God bless.

Thank you Sol Shame we didn't have any custard creams to share in the tea queue, although I understand you are currently in the middle of a self imposed ban ! Pleasure to catch up with you as usual.
