Let the week marinate and I’ll predict on Friday before I head to Northampton v Derby in the cup.
And then onto GGL Saturday.

Rumours flying about that Tim Flowers has quit as manager of Solihull after their 6-2 defeat to Tamworth in their local county cup game, off the back of a defeat at home to Boreham Wood and going out of the trophy at home to Darlington.
Nothing official yet though.

Well they were 6-0 down at half time and were lucky it wasn't 7-0 as a Tamworth striker missed a pen right on half time. They played their first team too so a tad embarrassing to say the least.

On first glance it looks like a rumour without any real basis. Gone home rather than gone.

I think that the highlights should be of the use of the elbows and a copy sent to Mr Dale, it would appear that they didn’t come here to play football but to just take the p-ss and get a point.

Not a game that will live long in my memory. One positive is how well the defence played against a decent Moors team.

Still only 6 points away from the play-offs.

Listening to the commentary it would seem that we are badly missing Eastie in the middle of the park to drive us forward.

Absolutely we missed Craig Eastmond. Particularly in the second half we conceded a lot of possession to Solihull. We knew this would be a physical battle, with the long throws of George Carline contributing to their aerial bombardment. Nik Tzanev made a couple of good saves, and they hit the top of the bar and then the post. So, even though we were at home, this did feel like a point gained. David Ajiboye was cynically fouled twice as we counter-attacked, first by Mitch Hancox and then by their titular captain Kyle Storer. Our best chance perhaps came when Tommy's pass found Harry but he was thwarted by a superb tackle from their no.2 Tyrone Williams. We stay 15th. That was a good game to get behind us without losing. Only four of our 14 remaining league games are against top ten sides, and three of those are next month.

Not a game that will live long in my memory. One positive is how well the defence played against a decent Moors team. Yes. I subscribe to the 'teams are built from the back' notion so when Matt made the necessary changes - getting in Tzanev and obtaining the return of Louis John it made this statistical improvement. Before them U's conceded 32 goals in 21 games and since those two arrived U's have conceded only 16 goals in 15 games. The defence is a lot tighter. It makes a big difference to the results for a side which is only scoring at an average 1 goal per game. Moors were in even greater need of defensive reinforcements, having shipped a 4 and 6 in recent games, but in Declan Drysdale from Coventry they seem to have borrowed a gem. U's got through once in each half where it seemed easier to score but Tommy shot over and Harry had the ball taken off his toe with a fine tackle. Tzanev made 2 good reaction-saves and saw one shot rebound off the post, but that was all Moors had fashioned from their greater share of possession. U's made no substitutions - a rarity.
