25 app and only 7 goals for the U's so why isn't he scoring more?
Are we using him wrong, I notice he is often wide by the touchline rather then in the middle? I don't think he played particularly well against Margate but in general he has been playing well but just not scoring.
Is it us or is it him?

I can't work it out. I think he did so well at Carshalton because the whole team's aim was to feed balls down the middle to him. At Sutton, we choose different ways of trying to score goals as well.
BWG is far more impressive. Of his 7 goals this season, 4 have been match winners so he really is vital to our promotion challenge.

Well I don't really buy that. He has had his chances. However, it is early days and he may still be the one to score the goals that set us on our way. All scorers go through bad patches and we just need to get behind him and support as best we can . As far as I can tell noone has been getting on his his back from the crowd and long may it continue. Remember he is also at a new club with a great deal more pressure and expectation than he was under elsewhere. We must hope he comes good, but the responsiblity is also with BWG, Forbes and Dundas especially to keep sharing them out, the less we rely on 1 or 2 players the better,

.....well just ask him if we are playing to a system that will enable him to score goals. His record at previous clubs proves that he is a proven goal scorer......but then all scorers go thru a barren patch., within the squad we have several players who know where the back of the net is!!! .

He might not be scoring as many as he did for our neighbours but his workrate is first-class and I've lost count of the number of assists he's made in the last few weeks. We're scoring goals from all over the park at the moment and much of this is down to his deft touches or clever runs in the final third

RJ's been mostly working outside of the box on the left, creating more opps. BWG is immense.

I'd rather have a team that scores lots of goals than a player that scores lots of goals, personally

Jolly is pure class. His movement is terrific and he will score goals for us.
In fact his goals will make the difference this season. Wait and see.

Totally agree with Gareth. Richard works his nuts off and in so doing takes opposition players out of the game, allowing others to score. With the positions he takes up, and the right pass to him, then he would be in double figures already !

But it not so much as is Jolly a good player but the reason why he is not scoring goals. I think its our system more then anything so I guess the question is can we change things slightly to get the best of both worlds? Or is that going to happen anyway because he will rediscover his shooting boots?

Well at current rates, Jols is going to score 19 odd goals for us this season. Did that happen last year? I totally agree with Gareth and Sal here. The number of assists he has done for us probably is close to matching his tally. And to be honest, Id rather have a variety of scorers that putting all our eggs in one basket. I would say he's had 2 games where things just didn't go right for him, otherwise you can't fault him. And going on his tweets, you cannot fault the guys attitude to the game either...he's here to be a winner and will do whatever he can to do that.

I'm not concerned. We've won 10 of 15 without someone like Jolls in top form.
Not bad at all....

His work rate and what he does off the ball is superb. My mate who popped along took one look at him and said you can tell he's a quality, clever player. A touch difficult not to agree!

Jolly has been immense for us since he signed. Having not really seen him in action before he signed for us, I just assumed with his record he'd been a goalhanger-esque striker, but he's one of the most creative players I've seen in a Sutton shirt. I believe one of the main reasons we score goals is because of him. He may not be scoring the most at the moment, but we always look a goal threat with him on the park and as people have said above how many goals have come from Jolly assists? I'm not bothered about how many goals he personally scores, paticulary when because of him we are scoring. His workrate is sensational and he is one of the most unselfish strikers I've ever seen. One of the best signings we've ever made in my book.
