2-1 to Sutton at half time. A long range effort from Tom Davis after 16mins (looked as if it may have swerved), then quick break and great finish from Brad. We conceded just before half time.

Late, late equaliser for Tooting after we failed to find a third goal. Tooting missed a penalty (Scrivs saved low to his left).

It's a game of two halves Jack, and today it proved that. After cruising in the first half, we conspired to take our foot off the pedal in the 2nd, almost allowing Tooting to do to us what we did to Wealdstone 2 league games ago. Luckily a poorly taken penalty stopped that, but after being in control in the first half, we allowed Tooting to get back into the game - give them credit, they never gave up, which they did against Kingston earlier in the week. MoM for me by a country mile today was Dundo - possibly his best game for us since returning in the summer. On at least 4 occasions he made opportunities out of nothing! Just to put into perspective - without 2 of our in form defenders, and a game we could have lost we got a point. We have a lot of teams coming up who are at the wrong end of the table - Horsham, Croydon, Aveley where we need wins to strengthen our championship credentials. Oh and welcome back Francis - good to see you back in a yellow shirt

It was disappointing to lose a two goal lead, but there have been home games this season when we've been a bit lucky to hang on for a 2-1 win so perhaps we were due this result. I agree with Andy that we looked in control for most of the first half, scoring two good goals, but the one that Jason Henry got for T&M just before the break gave them a foothold back in the game. (Ironically, JH wasn't named in Tooting's starting XI but was promoted from the bench in place of another ex-U, Rob Haworth.)
We faded badly as the second half wore on while T&M got stronger and in the end a draw was the least they deserved. There were times late on when we struggled to get out of our own half, and we conceded a worrying number of free kicks. The penalty save preserved our lead, but the stoppage time equaliser meant that we had virtually no opportunity to reply. The celebrations by their fans and players were more worthy of a winning goal, but showed how much it means to some teams to get a point at GGL.
I don't think a draw was a bad result for us, provided we get back to winning ways in our next match.

We drove up from Salisbury for our usual festive season visit to GGL. I agree that Dundas was our best player by a country mile and with a bit more luck could have got the 3rd goal that we always needed. I thought we were well on top in the 1st half and looked much more threatening than Tooting. Unfortunatley and despite the fact Tooting tried to play a bit of football and get the ball wide we always looked vulnerable to the simple ball over the top. They missed a couple of similar opportunities before getting the goal just before half time. Tooting took control in the last 20 minutes so an equaliser was no more than they deserved. I don't see the team that regularly so presumably (hopefully!) we usually defend a bit better? I couldn't believe how deep we were defending in the last 10 minutes.

Without KES and Murray its was always going to be tough at the back for us if we allowed Toots to run at us. The first half, although we did look suspect especially in the centre of our defence we carried plenty of attacking threat which meant we kept them fairly quiet. 2nd half each substitution we made only seemed to reduce our ability to get forward, credit to Toots who saw the opportunity to push forward and never gave up and got what I guess they will see as a deserved draw.
Great to have FQ back he is quality player, for me as above Dundo MOTM today he was everywhere working his socks off. Jolly is having no luck at all in front of goal, the tide will turn for him. 4pts from these 2 games is not a bad return and keeps us on course. In theory other sides can catch us if they win matches in hand or at least get close but many have to play each other.
It does appear to be a statistical fact that if we sub BWG @65-75mins we struggle to break out and often end up under the cosh at the end. We lack the ability to squeeze the midfield and deny our opponents space in front of our defence and just get pushed ever deeper with. We are best going forward so that is what we should do even if its 2-1 with 10mins to go, I feel we are at less risk. I much prefer to see a side who loses the ball press every pass the oppos then make with it 9 times out 10 you will win it back at this level, I do not like to see sides step off.
I thought BWG finish was top draw from the pass of the game, and maybe Tom should hit a few more from range.

I've got to say that we were inviting pressure in the last ten minutes by sitting back far too deep without leaving anyone up front to release the ball too.Tooting got what they deserved at the end but we should have been out of sight by then. Why do we always make substitutions when there's no need to?

Disappointing to drop 2pts so late, but you can't say Tooting didn't deserve their point. The defence was all over the shop all afternoon, especially down the left, our first goal came completely against the run of play (we'd barely been in it first 10-15) and the second was on the break. They missed two proper sitters first half to go with that penalty.
Last 20 mins killed us. We just ran completely out of steam and dropped deeper and deeper as time went on and by the time their inevitable leveller came, we had all 10 outfield players pinned in around our own 18 yard box.
Shame we couldn't hang on to all 3 at the death, but lets be honest, we got away with murder again today.

Tooting didn't deserve a point. Sorry Taz couldn't resist.
However I will say that no matter how much of the ball Toots had KS was really called into use. We, on the otherhand missed a hatful of chances and their keeper was in inspired form with 3 great saves at 2-0 and another at 2-1 which probably would have given us victory.
Dundas was quite outstanding and if the right ball had been played to him he may well of got on the scoresheet today. Watching him from the stand was a joy to watch. His movement off the ball was fantastic. I thought Tom Davis had a good game too oh it wasn't a bad strike was it.
I actually thought we were well worth the win but was impressed with the way Toots poured forward and the quality of their crosses was superb.
It was a very good advert for Ryman football.
I can't remember a season where we have scored so many fantastic goals (BWG mainly).
Great to see Francis back and also AJ warming up before the game. It will be like a new signing when he comes back.

Sorry, JR, T&M did deserve something out of this game. But for extremely poor finishing - they missed two absolute sitters in the first half - we may not have even led at ht. They started brightly but Tom's goal gave U's some impetus and we got a fine second before getting done for pace right on ht.
The pace up front and in particular down the right caused U's problems all afternoon and their penalty came from that. A terrible penalty and it looked as if we would see out a 2-1 win before their late equaliser.
T&M's fans obviously celebrated the point but if I was them I would have been gutted by that penalty miss.
A good game to watch though.

Sorry Mark but I disagree. Their keeper was far the busier and kept them in the game. Yes there were some poor finishes on their part but KS was at fault for one of those by punching straight to their guy. He was also caught out of position on another attack in the first half.
We were also guilty of poor finishes and had double the chances (at least) than they had.
If it wasn't for their keeper at 2-0 we would all be talking about a fantastic victory.
I din't begrudge Toots the draw as they worked extremely hard and looked very useful going forward but we had more than enough chances to kill the game.

But that's what the 'keepers there for. Scrivs made two great early stops at Robins. If he hadn't we would have been 2-0 down. A team is the whole 11 and who stops a goal defenders blocking or tackling or a 'keeper saving, doesn't matter. You don't win a game on chances you win by scoring goals. We got 2 they got 2.
