Not a bad set of results! Bury Town have used up their game in hand over us and are still three points behind with a much reduced gd. And their confidence will have taken a battering after Harrow's storming comeback. Lowestoft now have four games in hand but would need to win three of those to overtake us on points. Interesting that Lowestoft only got 513 through the gate tonight, just 11 more than Bury.
Tonbridge are now fourth, and have edged Cray out of a play-off place.
Croydon Ath must be sick after leading 2-0 at Horsham only for the fog to force an abandonment.

really good night! still it doesnt really take any pressure off of us... We still need to get good results over Lowestoft, Bury and Tonbridge in the next month. I think Lowestoft have to many games to win the title there playing sat and midweek virtually every week until april! there playing tues and thurs this week as well!

Well I got 1 one out of 3 right. Tonbridge beating the team with the least wins in the league so far is not a surprise. Lowestoft drawing at home is also not as much a surprise as I'd like to think. As we saw at the start of the season, Billericay were a decent team, but went on a really bad run which started when we knocked them out of the Trophy - before that they only lost to Lowestoft, us and Ks. Maybe they are finding their feet again? As for Bury - Harrow - Harrow do it again! Now joint leading scorers in the league with us, and a third of those goals came in 3 matches. We don't have to play them again, so they can do as much damage to our opponents as they like - they have Bury again in 3 weeks time!
Looking at the table now its easy to say Lowestoft will win their 4 games in hand and go above us, but doing a little 'calculation'/'simplification' in my head that teams with the games in hand get an average of 2 points a game (bearing in mind some may play each other etc) the table looks like this with all teams played 26 games (I've left their current league position in place)
1 Sutton United 52 3 Lowestoft Town 52 2 Bury Town 49 4 Tonbridge Angels 48 8 AFC Hornchurch 44 ----------------------------------- 5 Kingstonian 43 6 Cray Wanderers 43 7 Harrow Borough 43 13 Hendon 42 9 Concord Rangers 42 10 Canvey Island 41 11 Billericay Town 38 12 Carshalton Athletic 39
OK its not an exact science, but its a good as indication already of the real state of play. And shows really who our rivals are. The thing is of course, Us, K's and Bury all have all actually have those points already. But its interesting to see what comes out as a predicition (if you want a laugh, pretend that all of the teams up to Hendon get 3 point every game in hand they have - Lowestoft go top as you would expect, but Kingstonian drop to 12th!)
As the aleman said in another thread, this month is VERY important to us!

I was one of the Bobbins 49! Just prior to ko, there were only a handful of people standing around, but then there was the normal 19:44 surge out of the bar. After the crowd was announced at half time I did a quick head count and got to around 80. Clearly they don't use the same formula for counting the crowd as Sutton. What a shame that this competition has sunk to this low ebb.

Just as a matter of interest in the unlikely event Sutton were to gain promotion what would that entail in terms of ground improvement and other relevant changes to present operations?

I'd probably need to arrive 10 minutes earlier to get a parking space near the ground. There may be other minor issues that the club would need to address, but that's the most important one.
