The bumper bonanza Bank Holiday Boxing Day triple Strikers are Key draw duly took place in the Players' Bar after today's 2-0 win against Hayes and Yeading.
The first prize; "a day with the team" for two was won by The Hollands, owner of ball number 18,who have the unique chance to see first hand how the team prepares for a nominated match.
The second prize, one grandstand season ticket for 2014/15, was won by the owners of ball number 43, Tony, Peter, John and Stephen.
Finally, the ball drawn out in the tenth Strikers are Key draw was ball number 39 for the second game in a row, owned by Tony Dunmore. Once again Damian Scannell was asked to pick the right key for Tony, and once more he failed in that quest leaving Tony with the consolation prize of £50.
That means that a minimum of £1,100 will be up for grabs in the eleventh SAK draw on Sat 4 Jan v Gosport Borough.
See you then.
Up the U's!

AB, Are there any plans to make up for the postponed home match against Gosport by doing a double drawer at some point? Obv that will now be a night game when no drawers are carried out!

Hi Cez Thanks for your post. There won't be a draw on the night we play Gosport but £200 will be added to the safe when the game is played ( as is the case with any home League game not played on a Saturday or Bank Holiday) and therefore the amount carried over to the next Saturday draw. Hope that makes sense?

Ok; I've got some good news followed by more good news!
This Saturday you won't have to listen to (too many) of my idle ramblings because our guest of honour for the day (and night), comedian and Sutton United supporter, TIM VINE, has agreed to carry out the Strikers are Key draw at 5:45 after the game v Weston. Now that should be worth turning up for, irrespective of whether you've got a ball in the SAK purple bag or not!
Even better than that, Tim has agreed to take on challengers to a leg of darts after the draw in aid of our joint fundraising day with St Raphael's Hospice. A fiver buys you the chance to take him on at the oche (301; straight in, double to finish) . He's even bringing his own arrows along so beware!
Obviously time will be limited before the evening event begins, so places are limited and an indication of interest to take Tim on at the dartboard would be useful so that we can squeeze as much fun in as possible. Maybe post on this thread? You don't need darts - I've got a set of 20g and 24g darts to choose from.
I can fulfil the Russ Bray role - I've always wanted to do that! Any volunteers for scoring?
Oi oi oi!

Hi Andy; the sums of money remain the same ( £200 per home League game irrespective of the day of the week plus £50 per League goal scored by the strikers) but we only have a draw on Saturdays/ Bank Holidays. There was no draw after the games v Staines or Dover ( and now Gosport) because the games were on Tuesdays but £200 was still added to the safe in respect of each game.

The eleventh Strikers are Key draw took place in the Players' Bar after yesterday's fine 3-0 win against Weston- super -Mare.
It seems like an age since the last home game ( and Strikers are Key draw) and thanks to goals scored by Messrs Taylor and Slabber on our travels in recent weeks plus yesterday's excellent brace by Taylor, the sum up for grabs amounted to a season- high so far of £1,400.
Ball number 49, owned by Andy McVicar, was pulled out of the purple velvet bag. In Andy's absence, Damian Scannell came forward to pick the key to hopefully open the safe on Andy's behalf. Sadly, he didn't choose the correct key which means that a minimum of £1,600 will be up for grabs after our home game v Chelmsford on Sat 1 March (plus £50 per goal scored by either striker between now and then). Andy McVicar wins the £50 consolation prize.
Thanks again to everyone involved for supporting this great scheme.
We're in this together.

A short summary of the scheme so far:
Winning balls: 15; 6; 9; 42; 31; 36; 2; 31; 39; 39; 49. ( plus additional Boxing Day draw prizes won by 18 and 43)
Total prize money won: £2,200 plus £400 consolation prizes
Prize fund currently stands at £1,600
Home games left after Chelmsford on 1 Mar: 7 ( x £200 = minimum £3,000 still to be won)
£50 goals still to be scored by Jamie T and Jamie S to add to that amount: ?
Likelihood of a syndicate holder winning a large amount of money soon: a certainty

It's exciting, isn't it?

The twelfth Strikers are Key draw duly took place in the Players' Bar after today's 2-0 win against Chelmsford City.
The safe contained £1,650 and the assembly watched with heightened anticipation as ball number 7, owned by Lee Wallis, was pulled out of the purple velvet bag.
In Lee's absence, Damian Scannell was once again asked to step forward to try his luck to pick the correct key to open the safe. Sadly for Lee, Damian kept up his 100% record of choosing the wrong key which means that a minimum of £1,850 rolls over to the next draw on Sat 15th March after the match v Basingstoke when comedian and U's fan Tim Vine will be conducting the draw.
The £50 consolation prize goes to Lee.
Thanks again to everyone for their support of this initiative. Someone is going to win big very soon!
Up the U's!
