Depending on whether or not I can find some mates to help me out, I hope to be holding a 50/50 draw on Saturday raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care as part of a school project. If it is tomorrow, tickets will be £1 for 1 ticket and £2 for 3 tickets.

We would just like to remind our visitors that drums are not allowed inside the Borough Sports Ground.

I thought our players let themselves down a bit in December's 2-0 defeat at Stonebridge Road, albeit in awkward playing conditions. Comments I've seen from one or two Ebbsfleet fans were that Sutton looked nothing special. So the players have a point to prove. That's especially so as tomorrow's game could well be a dress rehearsal for a play-off semi-final. We don't want to give them the psychological boost of having taken more than three points from us in the regular season.

Really? Not the game I saw. We played all the football that afternoon but missed two sitters. Wasn't impressed with Ebbsfleet that day but as said the conditions were v difficult. They are no doubt a good side as they are 4th in the table and on a v good run. We also have a poor record against them over the years. Time to change all that.

We should get our best away turn out of the season so far for this one I would think. Looking forward to it. Nice day forecast. Let's hope we can make a statement and confirm our play off place with 3 points.

"Who's the w*nker in the gloves?" sang the 'Fleet faithful as Cloughie went down with what appears to be a thigh injury. His name is Jason Brown and his four terrific saves kept U's in the match and earned him the MOM award to boot.
The visitors were well on top in the first half, stronger and playing with more purpose than U's who struggled to with the wind on their backs and then hampered by the skipper's retirement.
That they scored from a terrific free-kick from McMahon was what they deserved but then after, Dos made the change and put Dundo up front and U's came to life. JT's superb finish levelled, SD's persistence, touch and finish gave U's the lead and then JT headed home on his knees after Kane had found the woodwork for a second time to complete what looked an unlikely victory after the first hour.
Not sure whether Ebbsfleet thought they had the game won and took their foot off the gas or if U's stepped it up or it was a bit of both but their midfield (in particular the otherwise impressive McMahon) stopped being the dominant force they had been and it was U's who had all the momentum for the last 30 mins or so.
MOM JB yes, best outfield player for the 90 for me was Kane but the team showed great character to overcome the loss of Charlie (SD take a bow), go 1 down and rally to such a level that 'Fleet looked a spent force at the end.
Ref did better than he has a reputation for today, although the arm in Cloughie's face early on went unpunished but he did try to allow the game to be played without countless free-kicks in what was a physical encounter.
Great 3 points but I hope not at the expense of Cloughie.
Great travelling support too today. Well done to the 'Fleet fans for that.
One more point will confirm our play-off qualification.

In the end our players proved their point emphatically with a 3-1 win, although only after Ebbsfleet had had the better of the first half then taken the lead early in the second. That goal woke Sutton up, and for the last 30 minutes we were back to our best. JT showed why he's one of the deadliest finishers at this level of football, equalising from a tight angle and nodding in our third when the excellent Kane Haysman's initial shot came back to him. In between Simon Downer got the decisive touch for our second after we superbly kept possession around the visitors' box following a free kick.
The big disappointment of the day was losing Cloughie early in the match. With luck he'll be one of the players returning from injury in time for the play-offs.
We stay second, although Bromley's win keeps them on our shoulders. Ebbsfleet will probably now have to settle for fourth place.

While Clough was getting treatment Brown was telling the Fleet players the ball was put out so the trainer could attend Clough. How true that was is anyone's guess!!

Well, we were awful up to their goal. Thereafter we were superb with Spillane increasingly influential. A direct side Ebsfleet but didn't impress me in a scrappy affair for the first hour despite the fact they should have been comfortably ahead. They would have wondered how we were so high after the first hour because we weren't at the races. Brown did well. Good stuff to turn it round but we can't afford to be so poor for long stretches of the play off matches. I guess their threat for the play offs is shutting off Cook on the left and defending strongly in the air.

Missed nearly all of the first half due to raffle business, but the second half was excellent. The Ebbsfleet goal seemed to wake us up and we looked like scoring all through the rest of the game, and probably deserved the win. Massive thanks to everybody who bought a 50/50 ticket, I'll list some of the statistics to do with the raffle below: Total tickets sold: 262 Total money spent by supporters on tickets: £186.90 Money to Marie Curie Cancer Care: £93.45 Money to ticket 167 (Ebbsfleet supporters): £93.45

As said up to the Fleet goal we were second best but luckily we can rely on the best keeper to play outside the football league. Every week I say how good he is and every week he gets better, great shot stopper, good delivery of the ball and very calm in possession, well deserved MOTM today.
Our midfield was non existent up to the goal, not tight enough and our only outlet appeared to be long balls down the channel which for the most part Fleet defended very well. The goal was no more then Fleet deserved but they say goals change games and that one certainly did. Dos knows his side will be strongest in the last quarter of there game, and once JT had scored another one for the goal of the season short list, there was only ever one winner.
I thought the game was very reminiscent of Bromley (2nd half) like a horse in a race we came from off the pace and won 'going away'.

I guess their threat for the play offs is shutting off Cook on the left and defending strongly in the air. Spot on, Spillane had his best game so far. Make no bones, we were absolute dog turd in the first half, could have been 2 or 3 down but for Brown. Why on earth were we playing so direct with such diminutive front men, absolute suicide. The goal goes in early second half and suddenly we're a completely different side, keeping possession, playing on the floor and creating chance after chance. I really did not see that result coming after the first 50 min.

Thanks as always for the welcome and good luck in the play-offs. Oh, and Jamie Taylor's still a bloody good player.
