Yep would love a good run in the Surrey Senior this year what with last seasons very early exit plus a fair few of our players needing extra game time (we've only played 15 games in 3 months). Not really fearing any of the teams in the cup what with Woking's surprise exit last night, also no Dulwich in this seasons cup - anyone know why? I see on the Surrey FA site our game at South Park is scheduled for the 2nd December. Lingfield v Westfield Redhill v Raynes Park Vale AFC Wimbledon v Chipstead Godalming Town v Mole Valley SCR (11th Nov) Knaphill v Colliers Wood United (2nd Dec) Leatherhead v Fanham Town (26th Nov) Walton Casuals v Corinthian Casuals (25th Nov) Badshot Lea v Kingstonian (2nd Dec) Dorking Wanderers v Frimley Green Metropolitan Police v Walton & Hersham Epsom & Ewell v Camberley Town (2nd Dec) Merstham v Beckenham Town (25th Nov) Molesey v Egham Town South Park v Sutton United (2nd Dec) Tooting & Mitcham United v Horley Town (2nd Dec) Woking 0-3 Ashford Town

I certainly think we will be taking it seriously for now give our very light mid week schedule to date. Obviously things may change in the 2nd half of the season if the weather turns. I was only thinking the other day how daft it is that, so far, we've only been scheduled to play two leagues on a Tuesday. Given the problems all non-league teams experienced with last season's terrible weather it would have been more sensible to get extra games in early and leave a couple of Saturdays free in the Spring for the inevitable postponements. Hopefully it won't be too much of an issue this season because we've only got 40 league games to play this time, but I do wish there was more consideration given to those at non-league level.
(Apologies for digressing off-topic on a Surrey Senior Cup thread, but some things do exasperate me. Don't get me started on the issue of video replays! The best part of 15 bleedin' years I've been advocating those...okay, deep breaths, think of a happy place...)
I do believe that clubs should be given provisional midweek fixtures should positive cup results happen on the preceding Saturday. No doubt clubs at your level would argue that booking/cancelling transport etc would be an issue? I see there is no consideration for players in your league with Friday and Sunday games over Christmas. Once again, clubs are bound to want one home game over the holiday period?

Not that it really makes any difference but we've actually been scheduled to play three Tuesday games, not two. One of them didn't happen because it involved Salisbury.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd gladly give up a good run in the SSC for a good run in the Trophy. Far more important, both financially and for reputation. Remember of course that our first fixture may not happen on the published date if our first FAT game goes to a replay (Draw is on 17th November)

Gosport and Havant- who beat us- proved last year you can go a long way in the Trophy if you have a kind draw.

FA Trophy means a lot more in terms of finance and prestige of course but Sutton have a strong history in the SSC and it makes sense to go for a cup that is winnable especially as doing so would put us level on most wins with Dulwich Hamlet.

Dulwich do not affiliate to Surrey FA and have not done for some years. They affiliate to the London FA, hence their involvement in the LSC.

Not to mention the prestige and the excitement a good Trophy run would bring.

After the implosion of us twice against Godalming in the final and the whipping we got against Woking, I've totally lost love with the SSC. Winning the FA Trophy or beating Dulwich's record in the SSC. To me, it's a no brainer.

We could just win them both.
I'm sure it's as easily done as said!

Their record in the SSC still stands though, so I don't really see how this is relevant as we can still equal and subsequently beat it!

Quick fact for you. Dulwich had won 10 SSCs before we'd won our first.

I was responding to a question with regards to Dulwich's non-entry into the competition this season. Its relevance to Dulwich's record in the SSC is that they can't add to it as a result. Not that was the point in answering the question posed.
