The ninth Strikers are Key draw of the season duly took place after today's match v Hemel Hempstead.
Tommy, son of Sutton's favourite pugilist, RICKY Boylan, pulled ball 37 out of the purple velvet bag, a ball owned by the syndicate " It's a Dog's Life" whose members are Paul Chalmers, Colin " Juan" Payne, Mark Notton, Nick the Greek and " Duke", the last named of whom stepped forward, worked the crowd and then, sadly, pulled out the wrong key and thus failed to open the safe. The syndicate members present were comforted by the £50 consolation prize which was speedily and wisely invested at the bar.
This means that a minimum of £700 will be up for grabs at the tenth Strikers are Key draw which takes place on Saturday 20th December after the match v Whitehawk plus £50 per League goal scored in the interim by the nominated strikers.
On which subject; those nominated strikers are now Craig Dundas, Jessy Reindorf and Billy Medlock.
One other piece of housekeeping; you'll all be delighted to learn that ball 43 does now indeed have new owners in the shape of Ian Baird and Wayne Shaw who have joined forces. Welcome to the game gentlemen!
Thank you as always for everyone's marvellous support of this important initiative for the club. Onwards and upwards.

The tenth Strikers are Key draw of the season duly took place after today's match v Whitehawk.
Ball number 9 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by " The old Ds " syndicate comprised of Keith Dodwell and Peter Dillon.
Peter stepped forward and duly opened the safe, collecting £750 in so doing. Congratulations to Keith and Peter.
Here's hoping everyone has a great Christmas. The next draw is after the home match v St Albans next Sunday.

The eleventh Strikers are Key draw of the season duly took place after today's match v St Albans City.
Ball number 13 was pulled out of the velvet bag, the ball owned by the "Lucky 13s" syndicate comprised of Andy Kyriakides, Sarah Aitchison, Susie Jones, Mark Bravery and Mark Donohue.
Andy K stepped forward but sadly chose the wrong key and was unable to open the safe, thereby winning his syndicate the £50 consolation prize.
This means that a minimum of £450 will be up for grabs in Thursday's bumper bonanza triple draw after the home match v Wealdstone!
See you there.

It's the bumper bonanza triple Strikers are Key draw today at 5:45pm in the Players' Bar:
1) " A day for two with the team" - thanks again to Dos and the team for enabling this prize to be offered this season once more 2) A season ticket for 2015/16 3) The regular SAK draw in which a minimum of £450 will be up for grabs
Good Luck everyone!

The twelfth Strikers are Key draw of the season - part of a bumper bonanza triple draw - duly took place after today's match v Wealdstone. Here are the results:
1) " A day with the team for two people", a great insight into Matchday preparation for any U' fan, was won by our friends from SUFCTv whose ball, number 46, was the first to be pulled out of the purple velvet bag. Congratulations to syndicate members Clive, James and Fiona King and Terry Summerfield.
2) A season ticket for 2015/16 was, rather ironically, won by the owners of ball number 2, the syndicate owned by SUFC Midfielders. Syndicate leader Craig Dundas assured us all he would consult with team members and come up with something creative to make good use of the prize!
3) The regular draw, with £450 in the safe, was then made. Ball number 4, owned by " The Loughlins", was next out of the bag, a family syndicate comprising of Claire, Paul, Dave, Janice and Tim Loughlin. Claire stepped forward but sadly chose the wrong key, thereby winning her syndicate the £50 consolation prize.
It all means that a minimum of £650 is carred forward to the thirteenth SAK draw of the season, on 17 January, after the home match v Ebbsfleet.
Thanks again for your tremendous support of this scheme - here's to a happy and successful 2015.
Up the U's!

For the record here are the 12 lucky ball numbers which have been pulled out of the purple velvet bag so far this season in the Strikers are Key draws:
9; 32; 16; 39; 21; 18; 16; 22; 37; 9; 13 ;4 ( plus 46 and 2 in the other New Year's Day draws).
The safe has been successfully opened on four out of twelve occasions to date.
Nine more draws still to come!
Onwards and upwards.

Only just occurred to me, number nine has been far and away the luckiest number last season and this - lucky striker, striker being number nine. Sorry if I'm the last person in the world to make that connection!

Peter Dillon said the same thing to me when their number came out recently, I hadn't really thought about it previous to that either!

I think there has been a very thin coat of glue applied to that 9 ball!!

Wouldn't that make it harder to pull out?

There was great excitement in the Players' Bar following the team's excellent victory against Ebbsfleet United as the returning Damian Scannell conducted the thirteenth Strikers are Key draw of the season. Damian pulled ball number 47 out of the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by " Chargo and Si", Charlotte Granville- Overton and Simon Longman. In their absence yesterday, Damian selected a key for them to try to open the safe but maintained his unfortunate 100% track record of choosing unsuccessfully. "Chargo and Si" win the £50 consolation prize meaning a minimum of £850 is up for grabs at the next draw, on Saturday 31st January, which will take place at 5:15pm after the match v Farnborough.
