You know when you wait for a bus for ages and then two come along together? Well; so it is with the Strikers are Key draws this season. After eight futile attempts in a row to choose the correct key, the safe was cracked for the second successive week after today's game v Basingstoke Town, making it 6 successful openings in the 20 attempts to date this season. Ball number 29 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag, owned by the syndicate " Merseyside Branch", comprising Neil Allen and Graeme Carter. In their absence today, Jonathan Ward stepped forward in the capacity of being most geographically associated with our two friends from the North West to try and select the key-opening safe on their behalf.....that and he reckoned on a free beer or two were he to be successful! Wardie will be looking to claim that pint very soon as he calmly chose the key which opened the safe, winning Neil and Graeme £200 in the process. Congratulations to them.
For the record, the following numbers have been pulled out of the bag so far this season:
9, 32, 16, 39, 21, 18, 16, 22, 37, 9, 13, 4, 47, 31, 14, 19, 42, 45, 45 and 29.
Onwards to the game v Maidenhead in two weeks' time and the final draw of the season. If the safe is not opened then, the contents will be won at the End of Season party on 16 May. Remember each syndicate is entitled to one free place at that event.
Thank you to everyone involved again for their outstanding support of this great initiative.
Up the U's!

The twenty-first Strikers are Key draw of the season took place in the Players' Bar after today's final League match of the season v Maidenhead United.
Ball number 11 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by Phil White. Sadly Phil was unable to choose the right key thereby winning the £50 consolation prize. This means that the outstanding £200 will be won at the End of Season party on Sat 16th May at which we will continue to discard keys in the event of unsuccessful attempts to open the safe until it is opened.
A great big thank you to EVERYONE involved in the Strikers are Key fun this season. Your support is greatly appreciated.
For the statistically minded, the safe was cracked on 6 of the 21 attempts made.
Onwards to 2015/16. Thanks again.

The final Strikers are Key draws of the season took place at last night's End of Season party. There were three unsuccessful attempts to open the safe ( despite the wrong key being discarded after each futile attempt) which means that the following four syndicates received an equal £50 share in the £200 left over in the safe after the "regular season" draws. The four winning syndicates were:
Ball 10 - " The Strikers" represented on the evening by Craig Dundas Ball 21 - " Sharman's Howlers" comprising David Sharman, Ashley Secker, Gareth Lambe, Kevin Sutton and Julian Rozario Ball 33 - " K and D - Keith Creasey and David Mathers Ball 47 - " Chargo and Si" - Charlotte Granville- Overton and Simon Longman
Thank you to EVERYONE involved in the scheme for their outstanding support again this season. Thank you also to those who have confirmed their involvement for next year too. I would be grateful if remaining players could let me know their plans so that we can finalise arrangements.
Here's to 2015/16!
Up the U's!
