A more disciplined performance from Sutton this evening saw us to victory. We edged the first half playing up the slope but without getting the breakthrough. Then, as at St Albans, a Clough header early in the second half put us in front. The ref was giving the home players some pretty dubious benefits of the doubt, but he took a much sterner view of a challenge by their no.4(Cadmore)on Jessy and showed him a straight red. The game then opened up and Dundo clipped home a clinical second late on. With other results mostly going our way - including a 3-2 defeat for Ebbsfleet at Weston - we're up to 7th. Not a bad night's work!

What a turnaround from Saturday! Today we had purpose, strength, confidence and ability. First half was more a close battle, but Sutton probably shading it in terms of chances on goal. Whitehawk as expected were a typical Steve King side - well organised but let themselves down by their constant moaning towards the ref, and some quite obvious "simulation" (there was an incident in the first half where one of their players went down right in front of the linesman where there was no contact made from the Sutton player, and they got a freekick) but then we had Mr Coggins in charge tonight. 2nd half playing down the slope it was pretty much one way traffic. The sending off reinforced that and there was going to be no doubt of the result. Good to see so many players today playing like their old selves - Clough, Dundo and Kane all had their best game of the season so far, Southam was everywhere tonight, Jessy caused them no end of problems, but for me the MoM tonight was Spillane. Thought he was immense tonight with his movement and application and held the middle of the park together, somewhere where we've had issues all season. A great win against a side who will be up there or abouts, by hook or by crook, at the end of the season. Hearing stories of investors tonight it could well be we've beaten one of the top spenders. It was good to have our Sutton back

Firstly, I didn't realise it was Mr C refereeing last night, normally recognise him. It was an eccentric performance full of inconcistency, mind boggling use of his cards (Cloughie and Dundo's yellows were ridiculous)yet some good spots including a block off the ball by their 8 who should have been booked. I didn't have a view of their no 4 (Cadmore?) foul on Jess but U's players reaction suggested it ws not good.
Anyway, a great team performance tonight. Did Whitehawk create one chance last night? I thought we played all the football while they banged it long and in the second half, AJ was a spectator for long periods. Brilliant header by Cloughie - brilliant delivery from Spills, fantastic finish from Dundo. A word for Glen Southam too. Bounced back well from his short-lived debut and a nice touch to go over to Jess as the U's striker left the field to a well deserved ovation from the travelling faithful.
Well done to their 'keeper for retaining a decent sense of humour throughout too.
Good night all round save for the plethora of yellow cards from a refereeing performance that fortunately did not ruin the match.

As Andy said ."It was good to have our Sutton back". I thought Kevin looked a quality act at right back,so comfortable on the ball. Clough was immense at the back well supported by Spillane in front of him.Evans did ok at left back for a right footed player.Midfield was better than before as we didn't adjust to try & play everyone!Dundo back to form & Jess was terrific together with Kane. Julian didn't have a lot to do but what he did was good. Still think Tom is unlucky not to be in goal though. Can only play 1 keeper & choices have to be made.

Any views on the new addition up top?

The reason Mark didn't recognise Mr Coggins is because it wasn't him. The referee's section of the team board by the entrance wasn't updated. The referee was Andrew Laver.

Thanks Press Sec. I did say at the time that wasn't him. Might as well have been though!

This is taken from the non-league forum: www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?Conference South Whitehawk 0-2 Sutton Utd Admission £7 Student Programme free Head Count didn't bother My original game at Amersham got PP due to them having a cup replay so it was a local game tonight and Whitehawk looked the only decent thing on. First visit here for about 3 years and the place has changed quite a bit with a stupid amount of seats having been installed around the ground. The pitch looked really decent and 2 teams tipped to do well made for a tasty game. Quite frankly Whitehawk were terrible and Sutton did enough. First half was poor and second half was good because of the goals. Not the best but Sutton made Whitehawk look like a step 4 team at times. Sutton were a step team and Whitehawk looked like an under 14s. The big presents from Sutton won them this game.

What a great 24 hours, my daughter gave birth to my first grand child (baby boy 8lb 11oz ) and Sutton turned in a very good performance indeed. Jessy looks dangerous whenever we go forward. I think every player put in their best performance of the season so far. It was also good to see that Sutton didn't get complacent when Whitehawk went down to 10 men. Olé football at times. All I need to do now is persuade my grandson's parents to name him Charlie Craig

Just to prove how strange football can be this is from the Bath City forum after their recent 4-1 home defeat against Whitehawk. Whilst the previous defeats were as frustrating as disappointing today we were simply beaten by a much much better side. And it still took 40 minutes and a cruel piece of luck for them to go ahead. Whatever you think of Steve King he has clearly assembled a team that looks a class above this division (on today's performance even better than Eastleigh last year).

Bath haven't exactly been setting the world alight themselves though...

Whitehawk's twitter was 'interesting' reading from our match however I suspect there could be a few conflicting tweets from Wealdstone's and Whitehawk's accounts from their match this evening, no love lost between the clubs and both twitter accounts are deliberately "fans' accounts" and definitely not official... www.twitter.com/comeonyouhawkswww.twitter.com/Wealdstone_FC
