To paraphrase Kryten on Red Dwarf:
A superlative post, sir, with just two minor flaws. One, it's already been quoted in Media News, and two, it's already been quoted in Media News. Now I realize that, technically speaking, that's only one flaw, but I felt it was such a big one it was worth mentioning twice!
yeah ! just saw that ! cheers for that ! not sure it matters , but never mind !

So lets start with the positives from today then...
... Dundo once again puts a shift in for a full 90. Apart from that I can't think of much...!
Seems this shocking defeat has been waiting in the wings, I guess it's about time we got d****d at home by a lower league team. What has happened to the passion, the want, the drive. the ability to want to actually play as a team?
We were poor today, no if's no but's...poor.
Clearly there is something badly wrong, or something clearly not working within the current squad we've got this season. There a number of players that are just here cause there was no where else to go. I'm sorry for the negativity but that's what I could see today. No passion, no drive. Even the tempo of the recent games has been slow. I think it's time to once again get rid of the 'dead wood' and at least get in some bodies who want to win, and have some passion for a full 90 minutes. This needs to be done 'IF' we are going to make an impact on the league this year.
Strikers, we need one and we need one badly. Let's have a look at an option close to home. Bring up Ollie Sitch from the ressies, as he bangs in goals for shits and giggles, give the lad a chance! I've watched him play on many an occasion, and has the guts and determination to prove himself at this level.
Fair play to the oppo today they wanted it more than us, and they took it ! They worked us out, and played us.

Very disappointed with the result today. It is obvious that the governor's summer rebuilding hasn't gone as well as we had all hoped. Some of the new players don't seem to be singing from the same song sheet & some just plain don't fit in.We can gloss over this all we like & try to get it right in training but changes are needed. We have some real good players in the team but not enough to challenge for the title.

We can't say this wasn't coming. We have that horrible problem of giving cheap goals away and not having a goalscorer at the other end. I guess we can only leave it to Dos to turn it round as he has in the past and support as positively as we can. Lots of work to do, our goals against record at home is hideous. Perhaps this may be the year when we don't over achieve. That won't be understood readily by all. Well done to Burgess Hill.

If there were any doubts that this Sutton squad needs a shake-up, they were surely banished by this result. Burgess Hill were a tidy enough side, and took their chances well, but it's hard to believe that last season's Sutton team would have lost to them. I don't want to scapegoat individual players, but I'd say there were three players in today's starting XI who are simply not good enough while the other eight were mostly playing below their usual standard.
BH scored from their first attack when, not for the first time this season, our defence went missing. After that, despite having plenty of the ball, our players struggled to carve out any threat to the visitors' goal. The passing was poor and corners came to nothing. They got a rollicking at half time (on the pitch, I hear!) and started the second half much better, with Gomis on for Bignall and Cloughie thrown up front. After Spillane equalised with a powerful, deflected shot it looked for a while as if we'd go on to win the match. But the second breakthrough wouldn't come, and after BH won what looked a needlessly conceded free kick, from which they re-took the lead, we wilted. Jack Evans came on to take a free kick from a similar position to BH's but wafted it over the bar. Kane Haysman took the field too late to make much impact. A knock to Kevin Amankwaah after we'd used all our subs meant he didn't have the pace to stop a quick break down our right from which BH scored a late third to kill off the contest.

Individual errors were once again our downfall today. Their first goal we had comfortable possession but failed to make what looked a simple 7 yard pass and they were away. We managed to half clear but AJ's fine save fell to the head of a Hillian who duly scored. Offside? Maybe but the goal was down to a poor pass that left our defence open to the counter attack.
We had loads of possession but with that one goal lead on the back of a 13 winning run, Burgess Hill dealt with what we had to offer pretty comfortably and in fact had another three efforts on target that AJ was able to deal with.
Second half, Cloughie up front and arguably put in the best performance up front by a U's player this season. He won headers, showed great movement and had skill on the ball. The equaliser duly came from Spills pwerful if deflected shot. After that they were under the cosh but defended in numbers and with cohesion. All that pressure but just one fine save by their 'keeper from Cloughie.
The second goal came from us failing to clear our lines. Surely when the ball is on the by line the best thing is too look for distance in a clearance? No, we try to pass it out to a player under pressure who duly gives away the free-kick. Hill were clever. The full back makes a run down the right flank which Ricky Wellard has to consider covering. He goes back into the wall but not tight enough and the shot, which was well struck has a direct passage into AJ's unguarded left hand corner.
U's had no real response after that. The third came from Kev being unable to keep up with their forward as he struggled to run after picking up an injury allowing a cross for a simple tap in.
It was a classic underdog's win (which we ought to know much about). Defend in numbers and take your chances on the break. They did just that. Game plan executed but I am afraid aided by some poor play from U's. Dundo worked his socks off, Cloughie did well as a makeshift centre-forward (I believe Jess was not fully fit, tbc) and AJ had no chance with the goals.
We have now shipped 11 goals in four games and scored just two from open play over the same period. Dos had some tough tests in his time here and overcome them all with great success; this maybe his toughest test yet. Most of our squad have played at a higher level but at the moment too many appear not to be applying themselves to the level that the fans and no doubt, Dos, expect.
It is very unusual for me to be so critical on here but today was the FA Cup and but for the first 20 mins of the second half we lacked the passion and application to see off a side playing with huge confidence who have yet to be beaten this season, including pre-season friendlies. Good luck to them for the rest of the season, I suspect they will be a Ryman Prem club next term.

Its difficult to know what to say, I am totally deflated and for me I think it must be one of our lowest points under Dos, as spoilt as we have been under his reign.
On paper we have good side capable of challenging for the title with bags of experience at levels well above ours, but on the pitch we don't seem to have a 'team'? I am not sure its down to individuals not being good enough or simply the fact that as a unit we haven't jelled?
I do go back to when Tom lost his place between the sticks, we have not been the same since. We just cannot break sides down and that is probably down to lack of movement, players should not need to hold the ball and look for the next pass they should already know roughly where its going. We are dwelling or making poor passes exposing us at the back about half a dozen times a match, and the more we push to score the worse it gets, and that why we are conceding 3 goals a game with the majority coming in 2nd half's.
Dos has eyes and he won't be scared to take action!

Really gutted tonight like a lot of others I'm guessing I've always enjoyed these cup runs under Dos so disappointed not to have another one this season, credit to Burgess Hill though - what a fantastic season they're having right now. We have some serious work to do though, there seems to be a real lack of pace through the team and we don't move the ball quickly enough in my opinion. As always I'll be interested to hear Dos' views. Let's have a look at an option close to home. Bring up Ollie Sitch from the ressies, as he bangs in goals for shits and giggles, give the lad a chance! I've watched him play on many an occasion, and has the guts and determination to prove himself at this level. What I've been thinking for a while now - keep seeing this boys name on the scoresheet, and Kapinga who's scoring regularly too for the reserves. Bignall and Kuffour are yet to score for the club between them.

While I understand the clamour to consider the likes of Ollie Sitch it is a pretty big step up and in Ollie's case he has only just graduated out of the youth team.I have seen him play and he certainly knows where the goal is but he won't have come up against some of the giant and often uncompromising defenders of the CS. A lot different to playing the reserves of Step 5 clubs.
I wouldn't discount the idea altogether but there is a danger of "ruining" young talent by blooding that talent too early. And should we be putting the pressure on such young shoulders?
Certainly with Joe Kuffour unavailable and Jess injured we are short of forwards at present.

Ouch!! That hurt today and I'm sure dos is hurting too, he enjoys winning as much as us supporters do.... He will know things are not quite right and act accordingly .... Players not performing are soon shown the door by dos......let's have a real crack at a top 5 finish in the league ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Like other supporters, sitting here this evening feeling totally gutted after watching that performance this afternoon. We have dropped from being title favorites to play off contenders to now being dumped out the cup by a team two divisions lower. Yes it is the magic of the FA cup etc but the fact is we have been and continue to be poor for weeks now, just doing enough and scraping by in each and every game. It is hard to see where the answer is or how it can be alresolved. The easy solution of shipping out players and bringing in new faces in so soon into the season won't work as the team will never gel. For me, like in any other business the buck has to stop with the management plain and simple. The summer transfer policy has been poorly executed and has back fired badly judging by where things currently stand. Doswell and the management team have sourced and selected these signings and are giving instructions to the team on tactics and what system to play etc etc. If the team does not gel or continue to under perform, display drive, passion or commitment then who else exactly is to be held accountable for all this? Like we have all said this is a good team and squad on paper so what is wrong? We need to wake up fast and realise that there are serious issues which are just not being resolved. The after match interviews have become repetitive, full of cliche after cliche and have become monotonous to listen to. Plenty of football still to play and Doswell will get it right I just can't see happening after todays match.
