I love this. Every year or so we have the same conversation on here about the music with the same outcomes! Some posters want United We Stand back, some want that Fussganger or whatever it's called song. Some throw in random others. Just a couple of points to note 1) When Dos arrived he specifically asked for "United we stand" to be dropped as he found it utterly depressing. 2) With the PA system as it is, more often than not, you can't hear it anyway. I didn't even realise there was a "goal" music as it's easily drowned out by fans celebrating. Personally, although I do go a little misty eyed when I head United we stand, I do agree with why Dos wanted it binned. As for the Us, the Us, the Mighty mighty Us....wearing my musician hat on, I think it's a load of tripe. If the team run out music is meant to inspire the players, then i'm sorry that doesn't. It's like playing for a team whose fans only have one chant which they chant all the time with no emotion. And that's what kills it for me....there's nothing stirring about it at all. Right or wrong, even United we stand stirs up more passion. Just to give you all a bit of food for thought - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:U%2B003F/List_of_football_entrance_musicI'd honestly say that almost every one on that list is better than "Ready to go"

ahhh can't beat a bit of Reach Up. Although for me now forever tarnished as a fans chant that that just tails off half heartedly as no one though about how to end the chant

Can I ask if there is a general consensus to change the run out music that we ask the club (or they comment on here) that they are happy to do so?
Also if we are to actually change it and not just talk about it, then it should involve players and management alike?

Maybe we should wait until the new PA system has been installed. Hopefully any song played would sound better.
BTW I have been told the PA cables has been laid by our Tuesday maintenance team. The club are now waiting for the professionals to install the speakers.

I haven't worked out what song I think we should run out to but one look through my record collection would probably scare you all off. Anything by The Clash or The Jam suits me as even if they have nothing to do with football, it would liven up a few minutes in my turnstile.
As for goal music, I have never understood it and personally, I would rather not have any.

Right Here Right Now is pretty popular which doesn't surprise me. Good to see a bit of Zep played at a couple of clubs and United by Judas Priest at the Blades. If we are not going to have United in the title then personally I'd go for something like Eye of the Tiger. Nothing like a bit of Rocky to get you going. I still need to go to Philly and run up those steps (oh and watch the mighty Eagles play!).

Music and musical tastes being what they are, we are never going to find one song that everyone likes.
That, Andy, is why this debate comes up so often!

Music and musical tastes being what they are, we are never going to find one song that everyone likes. That, Andy, is why this debate comes up so often! Yup I see what you mean to a point. But there's a difference between music/songs we like and something that does what feel is the job. I'm not too sure anyone could hand on heart say they really like "United We Stand" outside the context of the club. It's because of that association that supporters like it more. It's always an interesting topic, but the reason why it regularly comes up and never gets solved is exactly what you said - everyone has different musical tastes so we're never going to agree. But then speaking for myself, I would vote for a song that itself I didn't particularly like or a band I didn't like but did the job of whipping up a bit of passion and pride with the supporters and making our players and management just feel that little bit taller when they walked out on the pitch. And actually can someone tell me what the goal music actually is??

Pretty sure it's Samba de Janeiro, at least it was the last time I remember hearing it as, like you say Andy, the fans often drown it out anyway

If it's passion and pride we want, then surely it has to be something relevant to the club. United we stand always made me feel that way but it's quite clear that it didn't work for everyone.

Am I right in saying that no one has come out in support of "Ready to Go"? If so, we can all agree on something, even if it is a negative

At the moment any music played on our PA sounds poor. Maybe 'Ready to go' will sound better on the new system
