A well deserved victory for the U's. Played well, but we still find it hard to get decent shots on target.

Good . We fought and battled and showed the strength and commitment you need to haul yourself off the deck. Not particularly pretty but who gives a toss. We can build from results like this same as we have before. We were right to be disappointed and angry after the last couple of displays. Luckily so were the people who can change things. Form doesn't come out of thin air and we could use another addition or two but today will do nicely for starters. And particularly against that lot.

And a first goal for Nick - That's got to be good too.

I see Spencer's claiming the ref was bent in our favour. Still spinning his own litter fairy stories from his bizarre fantasy world after all these years.

And a first goal for Nick - That's got to be good too. Yes a quick free kick taken by Glen Southam put him through to score.. Glen was ecstatic at the final whistle!

Well Spencer Day doesn't actually seem to inhabit the same planet as the rest of, but there is nothing new there! In truth apart from the odd excursion up field, and one really important save from Tom just before we scored, today was all about exorcising our demons. It wasn't pretty and we showed very little composure in front of goal, but sheer determination and the effort maintained for 93 mins won us that match. I would certainly rather be us than Farnborough who lets face it are a poor side. Despite what Day says, we did boss the mid field, and just about every other stat too, and a 0-0 scoreline would have been a travesty. I really happy for Nic getting such an important goal, and Glen showed his experience with that bit of quick thinking. I will have to see the video but it sure looked a penalty to me, maybe others had a better view? It was great to see all the fans on the same side and willing that ball into the net, it took 92mins but as they say it only takes a second to score. Pleased for Dos and Mickey too for the work they have done this week without a coach, and the drive home will be a lot nicer for him tonight (and shorter). Yes, we still have the issue of not scoring, but we don't have a bad side and we will get better, and we are still well within reach of achieving this season. WELL PLEASED, WELL DONE LADS

Just listened to Day's interview after the game. The man is deluded. However, he got two things right; the free-kick we scored from was a clean tackle - me & KBB were laughing at that decision - and the ref was awful. Too right but not for the reason's Day is giving. His summary of Dundo's performance is complete nonsense. Is Dundo not allowed to compete for the ball? He is bloody strong is Dundo but their defence was out muscled by Jesse & Biggers too on occasions. Messaged to Spencer, don't select pussies for defenders mate. This is the CS not the CCL.
Glen may have made a meal of the tackle in the box but even the Farnie sub warming up reckoned it was a penalty. Then their fella grab's Glen around the throat. It may have been to calm Glen down but not a good idea on a football pitch. The ref does't know what a players intentions are.
Finally, where the ref today was a real disgrace was not red carding their fella for the challenge on Shaq H-P. Our main site describes it as a trip. It was a full blown kick, not a tackle or attempted tackle. Kicking an opponent is a red card but this woeful official could not distinguish the difference.
As for the performance. Much, much better & we were quite easily the better side, although Spencer failed to see that. As I said above, deluded. Their 'keeper was their MOM thanks to some fine second half saves. It really shouldn't have come down to a late goal but we will take that at the moment.
It really would have been disappointing not to have taken all three points today against the poorest side we have played this season (and to think one of their fans has described us as dire. What does that make them?)
Good to see Tom in goal and considering he has not played in weeks he made a couple of fine stops and showed good handling. Though Shaun Cooper slotted in well alongside Cloughie who looked a lot happier than in recent weeks while our midfield grew through the match. Kane was lively, Binnsy had a great second half and a promising debut for H-P when he came on for the last 15. As for the goal. It was quick thinking from Glen and a lovely finish by Biggers.
We made plenty of chances in the second half but their 'keeper stopped anything on target and they got some good blocks in as well.
A deserved three points today even if the goal was controversial in that the free-kick was one of many poor decisions by the ref.

As we left Paddy Power Park the Farnborough PA system was playing - apparently without irony - Time is Tight by Booker T & the MGs. Time had almost run out when Sutton got that free kick in the home half and Glen Southam, outraged to have booked for diving rather than awarded a penalty several minutes earlier, slipped the ball quickly to Nick Bignall who slid it past the keeper for his first goal in decades. It felt like a kind of justice.
This was an improved performance from Sutton, with debutant Shaun Cooper an assured presence alongside Charlie Clough at the heart of our defence. There were chances for both sides, but the majority fell to us. Kane, Dundo and Cloughie all went close, but it looked as if we'd have to settle for a point until Bignall's late, late strike gave us our fourth consecutive league win at Farnborough. Just what we needed!

It wasn't a freekick as well! Though we should have had a penalty. Justice I say!

As I said, KBB and me were laughing at that decision. Awful. Great presence of mind by GS though.

No way! What the f*ck is that? Classic commentary. Shocking ref but the idea we got the best of his decisions overall is garbage. The goal was an iffy free kick turned into a chance by a player using his brain. Compare it to the reindorf decision just before half time and it's on a different scale.
