Both of Stortford's goals came from long throws that we defended poorly.

I thought we played well today and if we had taken our chances would have won comfortably.

Very disappointing result today. We still got the same defensive problems at the back and up front we need a 20 goal a season striker to put these chances away. I am convinced that Jamie Taylor being moved on was one of the worst decisions made. Wish I could of stayed for the forum after the game but work commitments meant I had to leave. I have resigned myself to the fact this is going to be a long difficult season for us.

If you had been able to stay then I think your comment would have been very different. Many of us feeling a lot more positive about the season :-)

Yes Delboy. Things are looking more positive. Dos has approached getting a striker on loan, Ian Baird a very positive appointment, and Dos is confident we'll be in the mix come the end of the season.
Simmi - we're 3 points off a play off place with a game in hand with a couple up there. If your definition of a long and difficult season means anything that isn't leading the table by 10 points in October then I'd agree with you. But today I think our performance was much improved on a lot of matches, especially in the first half. This includes how our defence was today plus how much we were attacking. Someone at the forum ( a supporter ) implied we'd failed this season. I wholeheartedly disagree and the last couple of games have shown we are heading in the right direction.

Nope. You need to come to the forum to find out! I think the facts are that Jamie scored 1 goal in 14 games which isn't good enough as a striker.
Anyway loads of positives to take out of today. Plenty of shots and a much faster fluid game. With better refereeing we would have won I'm sure. I've seen Paul L's pic when Jessy got booked for diving and it looks a clear pen to me which is what I thought at the time.
Onwards and upwards

Yep lots of positives to take from today despite the result which seems very harsh on us. We have problems still to solve at the back from set pieces and we really didn't work the Stortford keeper enough despite our dominance.
I don't know what others will say, but IMO that was the worst 45mins refereering performance of the season. Yes it was a foul on Jessie and inside the box, our corner cam has it plumb.
My MOTM today was Dundo, I thought he was excellent all afternoon.

Can't hide my disappointment about the result, I guess the late goal we conceded cancels out the late one we scored at Farnborough, but certainly positives aplenty otherwise and very hopeful for the rest of the season now, a new striker will hopefully give us that much needed firepower and hopefully the defence can work on their weaknesses.

Very late goals have been rather a feature of Sutton games this season. Unfortunately, most of them have been in our net. As others have said, we played some decent stuff today but were undone by an inability to defend two long throws. (We conceded in rather similar fashion at Ebbsfleet.) Lovely smash into the top corner from Jessy to give us the lead and a foul on Kane allowed Glen to extend that lead from the spot. There was another promising appearance from the bench for young Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick who showed he could beat his full back and get a cross in.

But for two long throw ins today, Stortford would have left with nothing which over the whole 90 mins is probably all they would have deserved. They were much brighter after the break and enjoyed a lot of the ball but they rarely threatened U's goal.
That after a first half that Sutton dominated and with a little more composure scored more than the two goals they got. Jesse scored with a thunderous strike & Glenn thumped home his penalty but that goal just before ht changed the match somewhat & gave BS some believe that they could get something out of the match.
They did, preserving their unbeaten record at GGL in the CS. U's are improving though. Jesse was excellent in the first half and with Kane and Dale wide on the flanks and the middle two backing up, the game was played very much in the visitors' half. Thought Shaquille H-P again showed up well when on off the bench. We were guilty of giving possession away cheaply at times but battled hard to get the ball back. The third goal though proved elusive and so only a point - one better than last year mind.
Thought the ref lost it in the second half. I was sure that David Gregory brought down Jesse and the booking was a joke. God knows what Spills said to get his yellow, think the ref had a soh by-pass. However, he was nowhere near the level that last week's official fell to at any period of the match so to say that was the worst 45 mins from a ref this season (OS) is well off the mark.
Onto H&Y who will be buoyed by their 2-1 win at Ebbsfleet. This division does not appear to have a stand out team and there is still much to play for.

Looked better (in mitigation against a side that will struggle), soft soft goals. Felt like a defeat.

Does anyone know if the post match forum was recorded? it would certainly be good to view tomorrow. Swapped my day shift to a night so I could watch this afternoons game. I imagine it will take us two or three matches to get the momentum going with the new coaching set up and we did look better today. Agree with Andy K that it is only October but it doesnt help when the expectations were for us to be title contenders this season, certainly with the players brought in over the summer. However, with the points situation at the top of the table then a few back to back wins will take us where we need to be.
