I see the Friday night games are Bristol Rovers v Gateshead and FGR v Grimsby. Someone's having a laugh, surely?

Every one can see what those ties should be,so why can't the people who run the leagues?

I imagine they were originally Saturday fixtures, brought forward to the Friday. The Bristol Rovers v Gateshead match is live on BT Sport which explains why that's been moved. At least Heed fans unable to travel can watch the game from their armchairs. No such luck for Mariners fans - Forest Green isn't the easiest place to get to from Lincolnshire at the best of times.
With next season's Conference Prem set to include Barrow, AFC Fylde, Hartlepool and Carlisle, we might be better off parking the promotion bid for a year or two.

A Saturday night in Blackpool would be a laugh with all those stag and hen parties!!
A nice weekend in the Lake District would be nice too and then there's Hartlepool!!

Yup. Let's not bother with promotion to a national division because it might involve travelling to somewhere that isn't down the road...

I want promotion. We simply need to be ambitious without over doing it. If we go up and come straight back down because we cannot financially compete, then fine. Would like to at least give it a go if we could. Look at Woking and Welling - they're doing alright! Besides, would be nice to have the likes of Torquay and Bristol Rovers at GGL rather than Concord and Hayes...

Some of us have a 400+ mile round trip for tomorrow's home game. As per standard. Bristol Rovers away any day would be great for me

I understand the argument that Friday night is less advantageous than Saturday afternoon in terms of crowds, but I would have thought TV money (and the odd attendee who turns up because it's the only game on and they fancy a match) would offset that somewhat. Otherwise, it's no different from a Tuesday or Wedneaday nght game.
It would indeed make things harder for us, but that's no reason to wish stagnation on your club.
I'd love the chance to travel to all those places no matter what day of the week it was. I get a few days' paid holiday a year and as far as I' concerned, this is what they're for. I know a lot of people don't work "regular" hours or get leave because they're self-employed or in education or whatever, but this applies to those who do get paid leave: if football isn't important enough to you that you are willing to take a day or half a day off (which is totally fair enough) then what's the problem with missing it?

I like away trips too, and accept that if we're in a national division there would be some long journeys. I'd go on most of them myself. But if there's more than a handful of really long trips (I'm talking north of Manchester or Leeds), some of which end up being on midweek evenings in winter, that's going to test dedication (and bank balances).
