It's a very valid point what Dos said about letting all the burglars know that they weren't at home. That wasn't too clever, was it....NIGEL! [/p] I think I've been the only person to use the term "throwaway comments" that Andy referred to earlier. I meant to include in that particular post that obviously Dos doesn't consider them throwaway, but it was a bit late by the time I realised. I hold my hands up there. I was actually expecting someone to have picked up on that one before now!
Regarding the business about rumours being spread on the forum, I just wonder if it's feasible to have some kind of code for us all to adhere to. It's getting daft the amount of times people have to be advised to wait for official confirmation from the club.
Anyway, I want to end on a positive note and I'd have to say that the part of the article that really jumped out at me was "I see myself at United for the next 10 years". To use Homer Simpson terminology: "Woh-hoh!!" [/quote] He (Doswell) said: “I have the right to a private life. I went away when we did not have a league game and I didn’t like a club official going online to tell every burglar that I was away – that is what really upset my family. I mentioned on here once that my Wife and i were leaving for the airport the next morning for a holiday in The Caribbean. Our house was burgled while we were away.

Are some of you deliberately missing the part that says "...I've been sucked in at United - it is a brilliant club, and 99.9 percent people involved are superb." It is time to draw a line under this episode and move on. Any issues should now be between individuals and Dos, not for anyone else. Dos has acknowledged it was only a tiny percent, but that got to him. He has also acknowledged the rest are "superb". Totally agree Spesh. I was reading this at lunchtime and thought have some people deliberately not understood what Dos has said? Beginning to wonder if some users are more sensitive than what others have accused Dos of being. And Billy rather makes a great case for why certain things should not be broadcast over t'internet. I would also comment further on some other bits I have read on here since I last posted but for the sake of closing the whole sorry saga of "Mersthamgate" I will not.

Dos finished the interview with the words “there is plenty to be excited by, so let’s not dwell on the issues that led to the situation after the Merstham game.” I can't take issue with that. We really are very fortunate to have him at the club. It's a pity that the good news was unnecessarily clouded by a modicum of negativity - but maybe one forced out the other.

I think Dos has got off lightly, the last guy that said "I HAVE A DREAM" was shot! And yes we are lucky to have him, the only question that should be pondered on this forum is where we are going to put the statue? Hows that for rose tinted glasses

PD always comes across really well when interviewed. Despite never meeting him in person he is clearly very passionate about SUFC and has a massively positive influence at the club. SUFC are a much better club with him around. Long may it continue. I just wish we could get a few more good players who also wanted to stick around for a bit. Anyway, the future looks very bright despite the problems this season so far. Let's all hope the excellent result against Ebbsfleet can be built upon and that it's not another false dawn in this strange season
Regards the statue, I vote it should go either on the steps in front of Rosie's Teabar or a bust located on a plinth in the tunnel for players to touch on the head for luck as they trott out onto the hallowed turf

If there were to be a statue it should not be one of a " johnny-come-lately." I vote for a statue of Frakey.

Of course any talk of statues is tongue in cheek but shouldn't people be recognised for the greatness of their achievements rather than their longevity? I'm not talking about Frakey. He deserves a statue as much as anyone

Sallycat said: I'm not talking about Frakey. He deserves a statue as much as anyone[/i] I will take that as a compliment Sal; however, I could list a fair few more who would be deserving of the honour. I would be well down that particular pecking order at this club. Ask KBB, he's been around longer than me.
