I know there are some on here who knew Mum, so I thought I'd let you know that she passed away peacefully in her sleep yesterday morning. Mum's father was 'Freddie' Buck, who served as both Supporters' Club secretary and Football Club treasurer between the wars, and she watched her first Sutton game from her pram in the early 1930s. She was particularly proud of the fact that her Dad organised a house-to-house collection across the borough in the mid-1930s that raised enough money to stop the club from going out of business; "My Dad saved this club," she would often tell me and that created a special bond for her that continued throughout her life. Latterly, with Dad, she ran the '200 Club' and was also involved with the Vice-Presidents Club, organising the half-time teas for many years. Sadly, ill-health meant that she gave up coming to matches at the start of the 2010-11 season but she always retained an interest in how the U's were doing.

Dad is still going strong and sends his best regards to everyone.

Steve

Condolences to you Steve, I remember your mother as a lovely lady never to be forgotten by all Sutton United followers. When reserve team matches were played at GGL your parents. We're the club representatives, lovely people, real Sutton United people. RIP Mageret
