Have to defend Billy a bit here, my only criticism of Dos is the continual revolving door, I think its been a bit extreme at times. Not sure how much of it is down to not having the resources or time to properly scout players, but I think its something that could be worked on. I dont feel a club of our stature needs to have 40+ players turning out over the course of a season. I'm sure Dos regrets not doing more to keep last season's squad in tact, and we all regret that it wasnt possible. Is there really any Sutton fan that wouldnt like to see just a little bit more settled line up? Without that its impossible to get that all for one mentality that makes a team so hard to beat, like 2nd half of last season. Fans really feed of that I think, and players love it. In fact thinking back to my playing days it was so important to the success or lack of with every team I played in.

I imagine that if this season had not gone the way it has the number of players would be significantly lower, despite the fact that in previous seasons it's been around this level so it's possible that if things follow a more stable pattern we will use a noticeable amount less players.

I'm sorry but Dos isn't an idiot. I'm sure like us he would like to have only 16 players he can rely on to do the job, stay injury and suspension free for an entire season. You can scout as much as you want but players, like any human, will drift in and out of form. They are not machines, and sometimes it's about getting the balance right. Then you have personal circumstances around that which affect players, both in terms of form or even being able to play. Also sometimes players will get an opportunity to play at a higher level or we get offers as a club we can't refuse.
And even if you get all of that right, and lady luck shines on you, what's to say that all the players have the right attitude to know they will be playing every week and not start getting complacent?
I think you'd be making a very narrow minded assumption that it's a policy of Dos to have a "revolving door". Remember some of our best players in the last few years that we all loved came in not at the start of the season (Clough, Downer, Jason Brown etc) and left a positive mark - where Dos comes in and changes things because they were not working (i.e. last season). I challenge any of you to go to any other club in our division and find me a manager that hasn't done similar.

I certainly will Mark. Players used this season.....44 Players used last season.....47 Players used season before last....49 There you go - that number's getting smaller and smaller, isn't it? A few more seasons and we might have a significant statistical trend

haha yes we did, lets go for the big 50 players next season! of course no one expects like 20 players to turn out for a club in a season anymore but over 40 means there were some careless buys, literally my ONLY criticism of our manager is that he brings in too many players. Sorry if you dont agree but I think many will. There's no harm in saying it, I'd like to see Dos persevere sometimes with players who are shown the door as soon as they dip in form, and cut out a few of the less considered ones. if we get it under 40 I'll be happy, how about that? surely doable?

If not, we have played a number of fringe players in SSC games in the past and that must skew the figures.

I'm not saying Dos has never made a careless buy, baboonfish; he's even admitted it himself. But I think that only explains a minority of the new players brought in. The most careful buyer could not have foreseen all the injuries, personal crises and things like Jessy's return to France that have happened this season. Take those out of the equation, remembering we've had far more than usual of these misfortunes, and you will end up with a number that might be more acceptable to some people on here. I don't have time to assemble the stats though unfortunately!

So Poole Town blew the title on the last day and lost at home to the winners Corby Town.

So that means Dartford and Maidstone, joined by one of Hendon, Margate, Dulwich or Enfield will be with us.
Then possibly Poole or Hungerford or Truro.
Still leaves us one short, possibly 2 if St Neots win the Southern play off.
So expect a transfer from the North - obvious choices would be Oxford City and perhaps Lowestoft.

Personally I hope Lowestoft get transferred South. I was talking to a couple of Lowestoft supporters recently and they are desperate to get transferred to the South (much like Bishops Stortford were before).
I am not an expert on the working of the non-league system but they seemed to think they had a decent shout.
Does anybody know when all of this gets decided?

Not sure if you're still out of the country Andy, but on another thread, I'd pointed out that Enfield Town are currently under investigation for playing an "supposedly" fielding an ineligible player during the season which could result in them losing 3 points and therefore slipping out of the play off places and Met Police replacing them, the Ryman League have stated that until it's sorted out ( hearing is on Thursday ), the Hendon v ?? play off has been postponed, the other tie Margate v Dulwich IS going ahead, and that takes place on Thursday

Can see Truro winning the play-offs in the Southern Prem, Pooles' confidence must be in tatters from Saturday's last gasp defeat against Corby.
Hendon or Margate for the Ryman Prem play-offs.
