suttonunited.net/news.phpIs this our first senior first XI groundshare? I know we've had reserve sides use our ground before. An interesting and a natural development. I know SCR approached us a few years ago wanting to groundshare which we declined, but with the advent of 3g, it makes perfect sense.

I had never heard of this club before, although it has a space on Wikipedia: Mole Valley SCR FC (Wikipedia)What other clubs (apart from SUFC and CAFC) have a connection with the London Borough of Sutton?

So would this allow us to give 'reserves' first team opportunities with another team whilst still being at Sutton?

That was my original intention for the question, but thought it good to ask here in case anyone can tell me now so that perhaps better questions can be asked then.

Interesting. Without any knowledge of their club at all surprised they can afford to hire our ground.

I saw them thump Dorking 5-0 a couple of years ago in a CCL game as there was naught else on locally, plus it was a chance to see how wonderfully tin pot Cobham's ground was.
It'll be interesting to see how our relationship pans out.
Does this mean we're getting the go head for the pitch then? It'll be Daffy Ducked if it's still going to be a grass one!
Knowing us we'll draw 'em in the FA Cup and have an 'away' day at our own ground.

Haha I called this one months ago! Delighted to see it happen, they're great people at SCR and I look forward to filming a few games for FITB when we're not playing and they are

So now we know why we aren't running a reserve team ! Hi I'd just like to introduce myself, I am an official of Sutton Common Rovers FC. I hope you don't mind me joining your forum. Firstly I would like to say on behalf of my club we are very grateful that Sutton United have offered us this groundshare and look forward to fantastic relationship between our two Sutton clubs. I just wanted to comment regarding Sutton United's current Reserve team. I just wanted to make it clear that our groundshare with Sutton United has nothing to do with Sutton's reserves being disbanded. Sutton United could have continued with their reserves either playing midweek on the new 3G pitch or continued playing on Saturdays at Banstead FC but they felt the gap between the 1st team and Reserves was too big to bring players through from reserves to the 1st team. Sutton's current reserve team have an amazing record and are without doubt one of the best reserve teams around and of course if any of the current reserve (or all of them) are interested in playing for our 1st team it would obviously strengthen our side and give them a higher playing standard but also keep them firmly in the shop window to progress back into Sutton's 1st team from us.

Welcome Justin (and especially interesting for me as we were at school together, and I played a bit of footy with you and Darren and your dad coached us a bit too!) Pretty sure most of us knew that your agreement was independent of you guys moving to GGL, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Just Del Boy jumping to conclusions (wrongly). I was actually talking about this with KBB on the way to Bath and again this very morning at work just minutes before it was announced. I am, therefore, not totally surprised.

I think it's great that so many people involved with the running of Sutton United FC (like yourself) remember either myself, my brother Darren or my dad Alan from our days of running the football club in the Sutton Borough in the local parks before we gained promotions to leagues that required ground grading. We are a very unique club in the fact we are very family run (and all from and still living in the Sutton borough) from my Dad being the founder of the club and currently Chairman, to my brother Darren who is the 1st team manager to myself who looks after a lot of what goes on off the pitch. In fact our brother in law currently runs our Youth (Colts) set up of teams ranging from under 8's to under 17's over at our Wallington colts base. Also If you have any free time on Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm (and want to come and say hello) our Vets have made it to a Morden & District League cup final which is being played at Sutton United. I manage the vets and Darren plays for the team. The chairman will also be in attendance.
