The U’s have been invited to be one of four clubs to compete in a veterans’ tournament at Maidstone United on Saturday 27th June. Each game will last for 25 minutes. The U’s squad will be managed by Micky Joyce, who is assembling a good squad of some old and, err, older faces ! The aim of the day, other than showcasing 3G, will be to have fun and so the sides will feature a wide range of “mature” ages rather than just nippy 35 year-olds ! Supporters will be very welcome.
Game A v B - 14.30 Sutton United v Harlow Town
Game C v D – 15.00 Whyteleafe v Maidstone United
Game A v C – 15.30 Sutton v Whyteleafe
Game B v D – 16.00 Harlow v Maidstone
Game A v D – 16.30 Maidstone v Sutton
Game B v C – 17.00 Harlow v Whyteleafe

Only allow the players and officials will be allowed to park at The Gallagher. All spectators should park at the Invicta House multi-storey park , Maidstone East British rail or Fremlin Walk all about 5 min away from the ground.

Turns out Nko ekoku's daughter goes to the same school as my daughter (same name too funnily enough) and is also my pals next door neighbour. I kinda broke it to him at the school fair today that the vets tournament is at Maidstone, as he was under the impression it was at Sutton! Hope he and Efan still make it!
Had s good chat about Joe Ross and morceambe away!

Unfortunately I can no longer make it this afternoon. If anyone is going, can they please get hold of a couple of programmes for me (if they do any). Cheers and good luck to 'the vets'.

A really enjoyable afternoon. The Sutton side played some really nice football and I thought Rob Hughes was probably player of the tournament, we just didn't put away enough of our chances (now where have I heard that before ?). I'll try to post a report a bit later.

Shame I couldn't make it. Ended up in B&Q buying paint and stuff (the things I have to do during the close season to please the guvnor).
We will have to wait until we beat the Bobbins to get our first piece of silverware!

Brilliant day, good few photos on www.twitter.com/suttonunited and some legends on display, great to catch up with some of them. Real shame that there weren't more supporters there. Edit - to caveat that, message just in from Joycey to thank everyone from him and the players for the support the today, very, very much appreciated

Had every intention of going but had car serviced and in the middle of decorating. Have to get it done before friendlies start.

Hopefully yesterday will not be the last chance to see our vets in action this year, we are still hoping to arrange a date - maybe in September - to play the Tache Trophy game in memory of JR. The provisional date had been 1st August but too many likely participants will be unavailable.
