Yep confirmed on the official site, sadly we say goodbye to Bedsente Gomis though as he's heading back to France.

That's a huge blow to lose Bedse.

I can't agree it's a huge blow. He was alright and had a reasonable year. Very replaceable. That said thanks for the efforts and best wishes. 2 of Spillane, Dundas and Southam in the middle with Fleetwood in the hole should be alright. Can't see the other fella in midfield personally.

Have to agree with Gareth. A good player in a weak side last season. I've got high hopes in Spillaine filling that gap and giving us all that bedsi did and more. Shame to lose a good player nevertheless

So what would our preferred starting XI now look like?
How about the following?
GK: Brown LB: Spence RB: Amankwaah CB: Beckwith CB: Collins CM: Spillane CM: Southam LM: Wishart RM: Stearn ST: McAllister ST: Fleetwood
Subs: Hart, Cooper, Dundas, Bolarinwa, Fitchett
EDIT: I got the wingers the wrong way round first time!

That looks a 4-4-2 with traditional wingers and defenders in behind, not really Dos's style, but does give a stronger look to the backline. The midfield is built around Glen, then it looks to me as if we have 2 holding players in Spillane and Cooper it will be interesting to see if there is room for both? Upfront again interesting with Dan, Craig and Stuart and looking for the best combination. I would see Dundo used a utility player this season. One concern is who covers for Glen if he is out for any reason, I don't really see another play maker in there?.. Interesting pre season ahead, no questioning the ability in that side and if they gel we could be right up there.

I'd see Spillane as a play maker. In fact I'd have him down as our best one for that role.

Rightly or wrongly, I get the impression that Tom Bolarinwa has been signed with a view to being a 1st XI starter (form and other factors considered).
I think that Callum Hart may be also subject to how long it takes him to find full fitness/form after his surgery.
While we have a number of players who can play centre half, I think that Dean Beckwith may be the only 'out and out' centre back in the squad.

He will need a very good preseason to get a start in the first league game. I have never seen him play but I have been told he is a very promising winger with bags of pace.

With reference to last season, I think Wishart will have to up his game this season if he is going to get decent game time. I think having a recognised LB behind him will help his game though.

Agreed, am sure all players will get the opportunity to push their case in pre season but if you asked me now I'd see him on the bench for the opener.
