Ball number 48 was the first to emerge from the purple velvet bag in the 2015/16 version of Strikers are Key, the ball owned by the syndicate " Happipotimice" comprising Richard Wilmott and Annie Hall. In their absence after the game, Glen Southam tried his luck choosing the right key but sadly failed, winning Richard and Annie the consolation prize of £50 and meaning a minimum of £400 is carried forward to the next draw....
Onwards and upwards we march.

There will be TWO Strikers are Key draws after Saturday's game v Wealdstone.
The first will be the draw deferred from the midweek fixture v Truro last week at which £550 will be up for grabs.
The second draw will be the regular one after the visit of Wealdstone at which either a minimum of £750 will be in the safe if it remains uncracked after the Truro draw, or £200 if it has been opened then....plus £50 per goal scored by our strikers on Saturday.
All clear? It will all become evident at 5:45pm on Saturday. See you there!

The "double" Strikers are Key draw duly took place after today's fine victory v Wealdstone.
Ball number 43 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag in connection with the deferred draw in respect of the Truro match on Monday 17th Aug. Ball 43 is owned by Wayne Shaw and Ian Baird and, in their absence, the safe was duly opened by Bobby Childs winning " The coaches " syndicate £550 in the process. Congratulations to Wayne and Ian!
This successful cracking of the safe left £250 up for grabs for the draw relating to the Wealdstone game ( the extra £50 thanks to Dan Fitchett's fine strike today). Ball 49 was the latest to appear, the ball owned by Andy Mc Vicar. In Andy's absence, Craig Dundas sadly selected the wrong key on Andy's behalf, thus winning him the £50 consolation prize. This all means that a minimum of £450 will be inserted in the safe for next Saturday's home fixture v Concord Rangers. See you then!

As a result of today's fine strike by Craig McAllister, £500 found its way into the Strikers are Key safe for the fourth draw of the season after the match v Concord Rangers.
Ball number 12 emerged from the purple velvet bag, owned by the syndicate " Supporters Vets", comprising John Parsons, Ron and Alison Denyer and Albert and Jenny Corkett.
John stepped forward in the quest to pick out the safe-cracking key but, sadly, to no avail. The £50 consolation prize helped to slightly soften the blow for this team of Sutton stalwarts.
It all means that a minimum of £700 will be up for grabs after next Saturday's match v Gosport Borough.
Until then....

The fifth Strikers are Key draw duly took place after today's entertaining match v Gosport Borough. Thanks to Craig McAllister's winning goal, £750 found its way into the safe.
Ball number 15 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by the syndicate "'Ome M'Lady?", comprising John and David Parker.
Sadly John failed in the quest to choose the correct key, winning his syndicate the £50 consolation prize in the process.
It all means that a minimum of £950 will be up for grabs at the match v Hemel Hempstead on 3 Oct.
Until then!

It's been a while so it's good to announce that the sixth Strikers are Key draw of the season will take place in the Players' Bar at 5:45pm SHARP on Saturday after the match v Hemel Hempstead Town and just before the Tache Trophy encounter kicking off at 6pm.
A full on day!
A minimum of £950 could bring some joy to one lucky syndicate!
See you there.

Dan Fitchett's brace v Hemel Hempstead Town today meant that £1,050 found its way into the Strikers are Key safe ahead of the post- match draw.
Ball 19 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by the syndicate " The Yatzee Gods" , comprising Dave Smith ( the syndicate leader with the furthest post code from SM1; long- standing U's fan Dave lives in Adelaide, Australia!), Gareth Lambe and Kevin Sutton.
In the absence of syndicate members in the bar after today's match, Mark Kidd stepped forward to attempt to choose the right key for his old mate. Sadly to no avail.
It all means that a minimum of £1,250 will be up for grabs at the next home League game and the £50 consolation prize is shared by Dave, Gareth and Kevin.
Until next time!

It feels like an age, but I am happy to report that "Strikers are Key" is back this Saturday after the match v Hayes & Yeading
Not only that but it is a DOUBLE draw!
£1,300 will be up for grabs in the first draw ( in respect of the match v Oxford) and either a minimum of £1,500 or £200 will be available to win in the second draw depending on whether the safe is cracked first time round.
See you there!

The pesky Strikers are Key safe is proving a tough nut to crack this season as two more failed attempts to relieve it of its contents took place after today's game v Hayes & Yeading United.
The ball to come out of the velvet bag in the seventh draw of the season was number 26, owned by Gareth Miller. Sadly Gareth selected one of the three useless keys leaving £1,300 in the safe and leaving him to edge towards the bar with the £50 consolation prize.
Ball 39 emerged in the eighth draw, owned by Tony Dunmore. In Tony's absence, skipper Jamie Collins stepped forward in the quest to choose the right key on his behalf. Sadly for Tony, Jamie's choice of key ably defended the safe's £1,500 contents, once again winning Tony the £50 consolation prize.
All of which means that we've had eight different balls emerging from the purple velvet bag this season - 48, 43, 49, 12, 15, 19, 26 and 39 but only once has the safe been emptied.
A minimum of £1,700 will be up for grabs after the next home game v Havant in two weeks' time. Surely someone is going to win big soon...?
Onwards and upwards.
