From our website - midweek home games will now take place on a Monday instead of a Tuesday. Basically to avoid clashes with Champs league. Makes sense in that respect suttonunited.net/news.php

Didn't Chelmsford switch to Mondays a while back or am I making that up?

Didn't Chelmsford switch to Mondays a while back or am I making that up? Havant and Boreham Wood certainly did! Don't think we've been to Chelmsford mid week so don't know!

While I can see the logic from a financial sense (although the more season tickets we sell, the less of an issue this becomes from a 'home support' perspective) playing Saturday/Monday might be a challenge to a team with a fairly small squad.
Not sure that Boreham Wood's home gates have been anything to write home about - and would have thought that Havant playing on Mondays might have something to do with not clashing with Portsmouth midweek matches.

I see we only have one home Monday night fixture (Truro) - and this is before the group stages of the Champions League begin.

Don't believe its a great idea to switch to Mondays personally & don't think it will make one iota of difference to spectators attending. However it won't allow the players sufficient rest between games.

I am sure it has been considered seriously so lets give it a go.
However, I am not sure that too many people decide not to come to GGL on a Tuesday because Arsenal have a group game against the Belgian runners up etc (it is very sad if that is the case).
Every little helps though so worth trialling it for this season. Dos will no doubt make his feelings clear if it is having a detrimental affect on the squad.

It clearly didn't do Boreham Wood any harm last season.

Not fussed either way. Of course we are less likely to need as many home midweek games in any case going forwards. Though appreciate good cup runs can also push more to midweek.

When you have a club who sit plumb in a catchment area of Chelsea supporters, it makes perfect sense. Those of us who are the regular supporters will turn up regardless of what's on the box. This move isn't aimed at us. It's aimed at making the 50 or so realistic difference between something on or off the box.
The club are trying a lot of new things this season (surface, non first team set up, different home game midweek days) - some may work some may not, but if you don't try you don't know. So credit to the board and management for not taking a "business as usual" stance over the last few months.

Well it makes a difference to me as it means I'm more likely to be able to attend (Monday is generally my quietest night for work).

I can't really see how you can judge if this works or not.Attendances will obviously increase if we are doing well & drop if we are not. There's going to be football on the TV on a Monday night as well.

It's not up to me to judge. It's up to the club. I'm just saying what I think their deeper thinking is, and the fact that they've got the balls to try something new.
