Apologies for last night folks. I think I surpassed any previous performances from the terraces. Under a lot of stress because of a neighbour dispute and I let it all go last night.
First of all. I thought we played so well and deserved something out of the game but events turned against us (some down to the ref, others of our making) and got didly squat points wise and a red card too. That was a shame for Bedsente who had a great game in the middle alongside Craig Eastmond who really impressed tonight.
All over the pitch we battled, got the ball down on an excellent surface against a team who, I think, will probably win this league. Most of their goal attempts came from range but Ross was equal to them until the inevitable goal from Parkes. He didn't influence the match that much but when you can strike a ball like that you have a more than decent player.
However, in the build up, Eastmond was clearly fouled from behind but the ref, who had a poor second half, ignored it and 'Fleet were on the break. He also ignored their 'keepers raised arm and then flick into skip's face. Now, skip was jostling him but a raised hand into the face, whether it is a flick, slap, flat hand or punch, is a red card. Of course, being the home 'keeper this weak, ineffective official chose a yellow.
Thus he was there to save Dundo's penalty after Kissock had bundled KA over in the box (not sure what you watch sometimes Delboy, if you didn't see that). After the 'keeper had saved and the ball cleared, their no 2 with his 50's quiff, went up to Dundo to, I assume, take the piss, and Bedsente reacted foolishly. He was, in the usual order of things, rightly red carded, but having allowed their 'keeper to stay on for his raised hand then he once again as is my main moan about NLS refs he was inconsistent in use of his cards (he was with the yellows too booking Spence but not Parkes for instance). The 2 made one hell of a meal of it too.
After the match the Ebbsfleet players celebrated as if they had won the league which suggests we gave them a hell of a game and is a credit to how quickly we have improved since the Whitehawk match. Obviously losing Bedsente for three matches so quickly is a downside and he has got to learn to keep a lid on it and let the likes of me give the ref (or opponent) what he deserves and for his second half performance last night, he certainly got it from me.
