What a great ball in by number 6 for their first goal ! Also, nice to see a right back with a bit of composure , for the first goal , then tucking away the penalty. Actually Billy it was a good ball in, but it travelled a long way in the air and Potton should not have been allowed that amount of space. As for the penalty, I would have saved it. I never know why keepers guess a side, why not wait for the kick and then see if you can get to it, that makes a right charlie out of the taker who hits it straight down the middle.

Can't speak for sure but I very much doubt a goalkeeper would have enough time to wait until after the kick has been taken to decide where the ball is going.

Peter Shilton has said that he tried waiting for a split-second in the 1990 World Cup semi against West Germany, just in case one went down the middle. The Germans went for the corners and Shilton didn't quite reach any of them. Personally I think it's worth the keeper trying it, especially at our level where the players may not be quite so adept at finding the corners as the Germans are!

Ross saved 2 against Gosport, he knows what he's doing And so there we have it. End of discussion, with serious debate last seen running towards the horizon with its arse on fire.

Many years ago when I played at a somewhat lower level I was a keeper, and I used to watch the ball and not the player. Generally speaking your reactions do seem to take over once the ball is kicked, if its in any of the 4 corners you aren't getting it even if you guess right. That penalty Billy showed is similar to one St Albans tried against us one year, I can still hear the forwrd shouting bollocks once he had hit it straight into the keepers arms

OS at a lower level you should always watch the player. As soon as a pen was given I didn't take my eyes off the kicker. His eyes would indicate where he was going to kick the ball and 9 times out of ten I went the right way. Of course it's different the higher up you go and the pros very rarely give it away.

I always without fail kept my focus on the player when I played for my school, but we were all a bit rubbish
