It seems the match is unlikely to go ahead according to a post on their forum Acc ording to BBC Weather rain for Basingstoke is as follows
New Years Eve till around 2pm New Years Day it is supposed to be fine but cloud increasing with then from 3pm NYD its not supposed to stop raining till 11am Saturday
In otherwords there is a strong indication that Saturdays game will unfortunately be called off as plenty of rain has already fallen and more heavy persistent rain is forecasted all the way through till Sunday
I suspect Basingstoke v Sutton won't be the only game to be called off this weekend could even be a potential washoutbasingstoketownfc.freeforums.net/board/1/btfc-fans-forum

If it is off, I'd be quite tempted to go and watch SCR instead! Anyone else?

Great another midweek away trip gonna get some major detention at school if I need to 'take time off' for the rearranged version of this one! Yeah SCR sounds like a plan if the inevitable happens and our game is off - let's hope they have an early pitch inspection

I'm not too worried until I see something a tad more official than a random person's opinion on a message board. They could say the game was in danger of being called off due to escaped dragons and it would still end up quoted on here.

Dont want to put anybody off but if you check BBC weather forecast for Basingstoke from this afternoon through until tomorrow afternoon, it looks like their ground staff will have to work their socks off.

They could say the game was in danger of being called off due to escaped dragons. Actually this might help the drying process - Does anyone know how many have escaped?

One post on one forum eh?
Does anyone currently know the condition of the stoke pitch? Because that is just as significant as the weather forecast. I remember a few years back it really chucked it down but the game was find because the pitch was.
Anyone have any news on a pitch inspection yet? Let's work on facts that estimation eh?

A Basingstoke fan on Facebook says it's currently fine and the pitch drains very well

There's certainly a lot of rain forecast, but Basingstoke is built on chalky ground which is good for drainage! So although I'd be prepared for a postponement I wouldn't assume anything. Actually I will assume something. Wealdstone v Hemel and Havant v Gosport will both be off.
