Good win for a youthful Sutton side that included a sprinkling of first-team players who needed some game time. Our first two goals were set up by old hands and finished by youngsters, Stuart Fleetwood slipping in Tommy Wright to beat Danny Bracken then, after half-time, Dan Spence crossing for Reyon Dillon to net the second. Casuals pulled one back from a corner before two of our subs combined for our third, Elliot Anderson providing the cross for Aidan Brown to score.

Kingstonian got knocked out last night, losing 1-0 at Leatherhead.
Apparently the draw for the quarter-final is live on Radio Surrey tomorrow, which is a bit curious because there are still a number of last-16 ties scheduled to be played next week.

Great win last night for our youngsters (and handful of first-teamers). Couldn't make it there last night - who were the stand-out academy players?

Have to say I thought Casuals would provide a stiffer test. They played ok but after missing a couple of early chances failed to really test a defence in which I thought Sam Doswell had a good game alongside Simon Downer.
We should have had a penalty before Fleets perfectly weighted and timed pass allowed TW to round a defender and fire through Danny Bracken's legs.
Second half, U's started well and had a couple of good chances before Dan Spence did superbly to allow Reyon Dillon to smash home a debut goal. Casuals briefly threatened after a fine Uzun delivery was headed home but Fleets back heel gave Elliot Anderson the time to deliver a cross that Aidan Brown met with a strong header to also score on his debut.
I thought the attitude of the senior players was excellent and the youngsters grew into the match. I suspect the irony of James Bracken's youth team players aiding in no small way to remove his senior team from the SSC is not lost on him or them.
So to the draw. It was always set for tomorrow and the reason that there are matches next week is because they were postponed this week, Simples, innit?

Attendance 130 ! What's the lowest "crowd" there's been for a Sutton game ? I attended a game v Epsom at GGL a few years back and just looked up the attendance. It was 109.

That was pretty small, but I'd say 100 people is still a crowd without ironic quote marks I need to go away and look it up but I'm pretty sure we had eighty something away at Staines for an Isthmian league cup game or something like that several years ago.

We've had 109 again, away at Croydon Athletic in the SSC, followed up a few weeks later with the home tie against Badshot Lea which got 107. But the lowest I've seen was the round previous to Croydon away at Guildford where the attendance was 90, clearly it wasn't a very popular competition that season even by it's standards!

I imagine the crowd at Chipstead vs Sutton, should they win their tie against Knaphill, would be lower than 130

Smallest recorded attendance for a competitive Sutton match was at Thame United in December 2001. The crowd was 46 for an Isthmian League Cup match.
