Well done every one at at Sutton United football club. The work you all did was a credit to the club. Thank you. The ground looked splendid in the sunshine. I know how much effort this all took.

What a proud day for SUFC, hosting an international for the first time ever. The nearest before today was U's playing an England Amateur XI in January 1966. There have been FA XI matches but not on the scale of this.
And what a day for Louis John. Drafted in at the last minute; on as a sub in the first half and then two goals! Roy of the Rovers stuff. Shame about the last minute goal but the Danish ref made two errors there in an otherwise good performance from all the officials.
A healthy attendance of over 1500 on a hot afternoon and the FA perimeter boarding all around the ground. We would never have got this match without the 3G and it is a great testament to Dos's and the club's synthetic adventure that today happened and that Maidstone are replacing their current surface with the one we have (same company too).
As I said, a proud day and well done to all those behind the scenes. It would be great to have another. I hope the FA was pleased (other than with the result).

An excellent day for the club, undoubtedly raising its profile further. It's probably best, however, to gloss over the rather glaring error in the folded leaflet which claimed that our record attendance was 14,000 against Coventry City in 1969/70 !

I don't think the Elfin Safety rules of the 80s would allow bench seats from the Oval round the running track! Can't begrudge the Slovaks their win after having the most blatant stonewall penalty turned down!

Have to agree with Tony the Slovaks should have been award a penalty.
What a great day for Sutton Utd. The FA and travelling England supporters were welcomed by a sparkling ground and friendly atmosphere!
Under the circumstances of a close season both sides put on a good performance and with 7 goals, Louis John scoring 2 most us were fairly happy.
Biggest smile of the day was from Dos who jumped from his seat as Louis's second goal went in.

I was surprised that the programme leaflet didn't explain the International Challenge Trophy - this was a competetive match and not a friendly, and some context would have been useful.
I have not been able to find any information about the current competition on the internet. England C play in a group with Ukraine, Slovakia and Estonia, but are there other groups?
How does this competition proceed?

I think there's just 4 teams this year, Ukraine and Estonia the other two, with the top 2 going into the final. We would need to beat Estonia in Tallinn in November to get through to a final against Slovakia

Thanks Dave - I was aware of www.ictrophy.com but, as you suggest, it has not been updated with the current tournament (2016-17?). Johnnie - A tournament of four teams is not much of a competition!

As well as the Euros, some countries would have had the Toulon u-21 tournament this year as well, so maybe it's a consequence of these clashes ?
