Funnily enough, I came on Saturday and enjoyed the occasion a lot. Moral dilemma for me is that I was a Robins supporter for about 20 years. However, I've vowed to never go back while Dippy is in charge. So what do I do in the meantime? I want to watch local football and not just support someone on Sky Sports. This season I've been watching SCR so have partly got over the barrier of coming to GGL. As the crow flies, the U's are my local club. Although a switch in clubs doesn't sit well with me, the days when the Robins and United were rivals are long gone. One club looking up and the other apparently with the ambition of going down. Does this sound as though I'm trying to convince and justify this to myself? Well I am really. Interestingly saw 2 other ex Robins regulars on Saturday. Can anyone see where I'm coming from? I think that's the great thing about our SCR ground share with SU. If you don't want to travel to away games because of time and money ect you could buy both season tickets at an amazing price giving you 40 league games at GGL (week in week out) and some cup games are included too. It's amazing value which you gives you the highest available standard of local Sutton football (watching Sutton United) and the lower level of non-league Sutton football (with SCR) which gives local players a chance at a good competitive standard and to play in FA competitions.

Here's a slightly altruistic viewpoint: Perhaps you’re evolving into a new breed of supporter in the borough, one that is content to follow both clubs with equal passion. The dawn of a new era! Yes, I know it sounds bonkers, although I reckon back in the immediate post-war years there would have been hundreds of local fans that would cheer on Sutton one week and then Carshalton the next. Being both a Sutton and Palace supporter, I still follow the Carshalton results hoping they will do well, and frankly I cant be bothered to dislike Brighton that much either

Hello to all. I used to watch Sutton United back in the 70s and 80s (Ricky Kidd was my favourite) but then drifted away (although I did return to see the Notts County FA Cup match). A continuing distaste of the hold that Sky and UEFA have on so-called 'big football' made me search out a purer form of the sport, and that has seen me go off and attend games recently at Portsmouth, Reading, Woking and Leatherhead. I have always checked the Sutton score (after Spurs) and watched with increasing admiration as they hunted down Ebbsfleet this season. This week I took the plunge and bought a season ticket at the wonderful price of £99 - I intend to pick it up at the game tomorrow. It will seem like full-circle, almost a home coming. Maybe the future is Amber after all...

Yes, I know it sounds bonkers, although I reckon back in the immediate post-war years there would have been hundreds of local fans that would cheer on Sutton one week and then Carshalton the next. To be honest, when I first started to support Sutton (1967) the rivalry with Carshalton was quite friendly, none of this contrived 'scummers' nonsense. With Sutton being in the Isthmian, a closed shop at that time, and Carshalton being in a lower division of the Athenian, our paths rarely crossed. It was quite common to see Sutton supporters at Colston Ave when the U's were away. I wasn't the only Sutton supporter who took a half day holiday from work to watch the Robins when they had a Wednesday day-time FA Trophy replay with Bootle in 1981. I have happy memories of some of the Robins' characters from those early days - Peter Kenchington, Peter Cadman, Ian Braisted, Doug Francis, Bob Batt, Doug Springett etc. And who can forget the Premier Midweek Floodlight League? I see from my records that I've seen 316 Robins games. It would be a bit perverse to sustain a hatred for a club for that length of time!

Thanks for the reactions folks. I went to the Chelmsford game and have taken the plunge for a season ticket. Will "become" a Sutton fan, don't think I can watch the same team regularly and not want them to win. The news out of Colston Avenue today has removed any doubts I had. Good thing is that I can continue watching SCR as well, either with the £1 entry with United ticket or a season ticket with them, whatever works out cheaper.

Welcome on board!
Next season we will be 3 divisions above Carshalton. I'm not sure if that's ever happened before, has it?

Only seven years ago Carshalton finished one point above us in the Ryman Premier...... and missed a penalty in the 90th minute (citation needed) which would have won the playoff final against Staines.
