Very late post from me.
First trip to the impressive Hive although being stuck in the corner of one stand took some gloss of it. No problems with any of the stewards etc although have to comment on the excessive police presence for under 300 fans.
Another windy Saturday and while U's had the elements to their advantage in the second half, once again they were forced back in that second period but defended with great spirit and organisation to limit Barnet's attempts on goal to two of any note that Ross W dealt with. Their best chance came when Ross came out and was rounded but their guy found the side netting when he really should have scored - the angle wasn't that tight.
First half U's pressed well and their back four really found Brett W and Gime T a handful. Sweeney in particular struggled. And indeed the goal came when Gime T was blocked off the ball and upset James D to hit a truly wonderful free-kick into the top corner.
Another very good away performance landing U's 15th win of the season; 14 by one goal.
Some Barnet fan tweeted that we were cheats. Well, the only cheat on the pitch in my book was the ref who had more than one reason to send off Sweeney in the first half but bottled it, another case of a "homer". The NLP reporter gave the ref 8 out of 10 which I assume is meant to pass for a sense of humour. Thought he was awful in that first half.
Obviously great to see Roarie back and I don't recall any player getting such a huge ovation when he came on for the unfortunate Kenny D who seemed to head an elbow in the first couple of minutes.
As for Barnet? They looked a decent side on the ball and caused problems on the edge of the box but the Sutton defence with skip back and Dean B making an outstanding centre-pairing were alert to all that with the tricky Coultihurst kept, in the main, to half chances. Again the NLP reporter's soh came to the fore when giving Dale B only 6 - got to ask what game some of these fellas watch?
Another excellent three points on the road. On to Barrow and a chance to get revenge for those two appalling decisions up there. Will be tough as they all are.

Yes i was a bit peeved that we only had about a fifth of the away stand to sit in. Wouldn't have taken much to move the tape up a few yards !

Am I right in thinking that was just Roarie’s 3rd away league win for Sutton? Lincoln and Torquay being the other 2 in his first season?
The progression we continue to make under Dos is truly phenomenal, was another proud day to be a Sutton fan.

I was a little bit concerned that the seating arrangements meant hundreds of away fans only having one set of steps to exit. This caused a huge bottleneck at HT and at the end of the game, which was fine on the day but what if an emergency evacuation were required? Very nice stadium though, just think a bit more thought could go into where away fans are sat.

What are your thoughts NO Programme only online??
Barnet have a real problem. They have a huge number of players, lots of injuries, replay and catchup midweek league fixtures.
They are in the relegation zone, poor crowds and their parachute payment will disappear at the end of this season.
I only hope their owner will remain loyal to the supporters.

If somebody had fallen forward during a mass exodus, there could have been a dangerous domino effect.

Worth adding Dale Bennett was my MoM which is saying something when Collins and Beckwith were superb too. His play in the first half was that of a player playing at a championship standard. Utterly fantastic.

The reason stated is that you couldn't extend the lease for more than a short period .That doesn't seem to tie in with holding the freehold.

Unlike our perimeter fence, strange world

Yes, excellent run of results. The ‘may not feel like it’ bit may be because we haven’t been at our best/most fluent. We are so very hard to beat because we get a shift from every single player. They all, and the management of course, deserve a lot of credit for that. Other fans and managers often talk about being ‘dragged’ into our type of game. What they mean is they don’t like how hard we work, how well we press and hassle them into mistakes. What they would prefer is for us to stand and watch them pop the ball about at leisure. Weird. We are where we are because our players are generally BETTER. And how good players are includes how hard you work, and are able to due to fitness levels, without the ball. On top of that I wouldn’t swap our Captain for anyone in this league full stop! We have seen a lot of changes with our forward and wide players in recentish times. As they settle we are undoubtedly going to become better as an offensive outfit. I think if we do click a bit going forwards we are going to be very dangerous in terms of threatening the top of the league.

We owned the freehold to Underhill but only had a short lease to adjoining land. We needed that land to redevelop the whole site.

Yep I wasn’t particularly impressed with the non-production of hard-copy programmes on Saturday (along with the extortionate £20 entrance fee and being crammed into that small section of the away end) but in the club shop they were selling a 4-page publication for 50p, the full programme is available for free online but it’s just not the same. As for Barnet they’re in a relegation scrap perhaps but not in the relegation zone - 4 places and just 2 points above the drop zone in fact, they do however have a spate of games to catch up on so might well pull clear.

Could be famous last words and all that. But don’t think there is any chance of them going down.
