Cant think of any strikers we've signed from lower leagues over recent seasons that have cut it at this level, but he's only 20 so probably more one for the future. Reminds me a little of cadogan, stocky with the quick feet. There's pretty much no chance a young lad from two divisions below is going to bang in 15-20 goals in his first season so let's hope there's still a proven goalscorer coming in. I really think Ayunga should have been given another season to find his game at this level, the kid had goals in him for sure but hopefully this kid can hit the ground running and have a better first season than Jonah managed.

I suppose Tommy Wright is the one that goes against that first sentence but his situation was pretty unique. More to the point who was the last striker we signed that performed as well as he did at a previous club. Fitchett in our title year? You could create an outstanding list of strikers who didn't hit the heights with us in Dos' reign. Jonah scored 4 goals for us (2 against Orient of all teams) plus another 3 or 4 for Havant on loan. Our top scorer Easty got 7 too. The fact Dos was so keen to take him to Havant shows what he thinks of him, i'd have kept him without any doubt. It's creativity that we lack, if he can routinely put a good cross into the box then he's an outstanding signing.

One thing Dos liked was goals coming from more than one source. There's only been one season I can think of in the last 7 or 8 where we had a 20+ league goals a season striker and that was indeed Mr Fitchett, but others chipped in to bring up the total. I think it's an indication of last season that our leading scorer in the league was Eastmond who ended up playing as a centre back by the end of the season!
To be honest we've had a few strikers I can think of who have made a step up and didn't quite fit in or adjust to this level (Adam Coombes being the first one that springs to mind) but that's the same across the park. No player when you sign them is going to be a dead cert at being brilliant, and that's when a good manager comes in. Even with a good manager, for every Max Biamou, there's a Chris Dickson. For every Roarie Deacon, there's a Baboye Traore. For every Aswad Thomas there's a Ben Jefford. And it could go on and on.
Would I personally have given Ayunga another season? Probably not. He obviously has talent but mentally needs more experience (and success) to make more of it, and I'm not sure that a post-Dos Sutton is the right place for him.
